Clemson about to go to court to leave ACC?

I've seen several different youtube videos about this topic the last few days. I have no idea of the validity of any of them. Are they just click bait? Is there anything to the rumors? Or, does anybody really know what is going on behind the scenes at Clemson?
Thanks.

Nobody knows. You have to assume multiple teams have things going on behind the scenes but maybe all of them are pooling their funds to assist FSU in their current case.

We’ll see if there ends up being a fire. I certainly hope so. In 5 years the SEC and B1G will fully control the sport. If you’re not with them then you’re basically a G5 equivalent.

I'll bet you the ACC has one already drawn up against Clemson ready to go sitting in the secret room with the GOR. I have no doubt about that!

Wondering why Clemson would go to court to leave unless we have a landing spot. Of course, perhaps we need to have the ability to leave before getting an offer.

We don’t need a landing spot. The power two would be clamoring to add us. We’re minding feeding the power two narrative. I think it would be the death knell for college sports. Monopolies ruin everything.

I dont follow this topic as closely as some, but from what I am seeing neither of the P2 are clamoring for Clemson. May be smoke or perhaps no one is willing to show their cards until Clemson has an exit plan. Regardless, I am not convinced we have a landing spot at this point other than the B12 which is always an option but not a good one IMO.

Unfortunately I have to tend to agree, based on how the Texas/OU and USC/UCLA/Oregon/Washington alignments played out. I can guarantee these were pursued by the conferences and locked in and negotiated well before the announcement was made. I have to think, we don't make our move until we have at least a handshake agreement from either B1G or SEC.
I am feeling considerably less optimistic than I was last year at this time. I get the feeling time is NOT on our side. Hope I am completely wrong.

What Clemson has going for it is 2 national titles, a decade of dominating the ACC, and a rabid, but small fan base.
The flags are South Carolina already repping the market/state for the SEC, Clemson isn't in the AAU, and South Carolina isn't a huge media market although its going.
My as non-biased as I could be rankings of who goes to Big Ten or SEC are
1. Notre Dame 2. FSU 3. North Carolina 4. Virginia 5. Clemson 6. Miami 7. Georgia Tech 8. NC State 9. Virginia Tech 10. Duke/Louisville

In a big big way. I think if joined the big 10 they would be somewhere between the 3rd - 5th most watched program in the entire league right out of the gate. So, its really a pretty ridiculous argument to suggest Clemson wouldnt garner massive interest from both P2 leagues.

Clemson is the cherry on top of the ice cream. We are ranked #2 among all the schools who actually made the playoffs and only one of a three which won national titles.
I submit that we have invitations to both the B1G and SEC. They just can't address that in public. I'd say FSU has the same offers.

From what I have seen on a couple of blogs which had several people talking about the whole SEC/BIG taking over college FB, they rarely mention Clemson when talking about teams leaving the ACC. They focus on FSU since FSU is definitely leaving. They say that ESPN's contract with the ACC only goes through 2027 with an option to renew or not to renew. So, the schools are not locked in past 2027. Thus, the buyout right now would only be 3 years and most feel that w/o FSU and Clemson, ESPN is not going to renew the contract. So, the negotiated buyout for FSU will be in the range of 150 million, maybe less.
If the ACC is willing to see the suit through with no settlement, they will be gambling that the court will side with them. But the court could rule in favor of FSU and say FSU can exit for no payment to the ACC. If that were to happen, all of the schools could leave for no payment to ACC. So, is the ACC willing to take that chance with a court in Florida? I think NOT!
I think a Settlement happens soon. FSU and Clemson gone by 2025.

I can see the SEC and the BIG going to 20 teams each starting in 2026. The SEC would add 4 teams and the BIG would add 2 teams. They may add 4 more each later. That's just my guess.
SEC would add:
Clemson FSU Miami ?
BIG adds:
ND UNC
SEC and ESPN are going to make FSU an offer they can't refuse. If they do refuse, then FSU and ND will be added to BIG. UNC and UVa will eventually end up in BIG.

If the ACC settles with FSU, what stops other teams from following suit? If a court rules in favor of FSU, what stops other teams from following suit? Seems there isn't much incentive for the ACC to settle and this is likely a hill the ACC is prepared to die on.

This is correct. If teams are allowed to leave then the ACC, with all of the conference offices and highly paid jobs and TV contracts, ceases to exist. Therefore any hangers on will use all legal means available to preserve their gravy train. This includes lesser teams who will be left out.

The incentive is going to court, dragging it out and getting less.
The relationship b/t FSU...and CLEM, etc... will only erode as time goes on. The ACC, as it exists today, will die. Not IF.....
Better get it while the getting is good.....

I think there is some "behind the scenes" activity and posturing but for the most part, everyone is waiting to see the outcome of the FSU situation and then proceeding from there.

Weigh their options &, with FSU being the most vocal about leaving & filing the lawsuit, decided to see how that played out. Then if things worked in FSU's favor they would pounce. If things didn't, then they could learn from what FSU did wrong & craft another course of action.

I don't see what is to be gained. Florida State is already doing the job and paying for the attorneys. Is there strength in numbers where lawsuits are concerned? The FSU suit will set the precedent for better or worse.

U tube videos you someone who knows nothing about law appears to be what FSU based their suit on! GOR is a contract...not a code word for punishing injuns...ACC got all the members to agree to a contract with ESPN that included a bunch of enhancements including the ACC network...can't see where ESPN has not upheld their part of the bargain...farmed out some low tier rights to Raycom...they were not going to televise WF vs Syracuse anyway...What ESPN did with SEC and others does Not appear to be part of our contract...you can't just jump out of a contract cause you want to...MO wampum is not a good reason!

breech of contract with the other schools seeing that we'd lose potential revenue FSU contributes.
Idk if there's a provision for a school leaving. If not then Clemson and perhaps others who want out without penalty might 'chip in,' on FSU's buyout.
I speculate about these considerations due to being told repeatedly that there is no price set (provisions) to legally exit the conference. If then there is no provision for one team leaving then how would the contract possibly cover the repercussions on other schools if that happened?

If the ACC accepts the ridiculously lopsided playoff distributions, they will have relegated themselves to a lower tier. Is this what FSU and Clemson signed up for when they signed the GoRs?
