Why are y'all mad at Neff's letter?

Let's face it, Brad saved his job with the win streak at the end of the year whether you agree with that or not. It still was a crappy season though and everyone will admit that.
That letter was basically saying if BB doesn't improve and make the tournament as soon as next year, he's gone. He openly gave BB another chance to save his job. He pretty much put it out there that nobody is happy with the results this year and that Brad's on thin ice.
He also said they're making more investments to the program because he has a huge vision for Clemson basketball. And that the goal is not to be competitive, but to be excellent.
So, why are y'all mad? It checked off all the boxes to me.

BB has done a good job of winning when it matters to keep his job. He did it years ago with the sweet 16 run and various years by making the tournament. It's like as soon as we're ready to get rid of him, he saves his *** from the chopping block.
Neff came out and said results like this year isn't going to cut it going forward. Something DRad never really did.

Because 90% of our basketball fans are miserable sacks of sh!t that get mad at everything.
They are the same ones that call for Tony Elliot to be fired fresh off a natty campaign.

Your takes are usually reasonable even when I disagree. This one is not. Basketball fans have been radicalized by 12 years of Brownell underperforming his processor, Purnell.
The Elliott dumper people were just ignorant, crazy, or malicious to Clemson in general.

Because after 12 seasons - a short winning streak against the bottom of the ACC should not matter when looking at retaining a coach. 12 seasons is 7 too long.

Because it was just more of the same crap we’ve heard before. Other than NIL you could have seen this same messaging for the last 5 or 6 years. “We expect better, this year was unacceptable, we’ve got a plan for basketball, Brad is disappointed “ blah, blah, blah. Different AD, same results. Perhaps if he had shared a few details about the changes, or more details about his vision it would have been better received.
I am a former long time basketball season ticket holder, but I find myself caring less every year. I agree Clemson basketball has a bigger

Let’s take a look at his great recruiting class. They will make a big difference I’m sure. Brad can’t recruit. PJ is the only one in our state of any significance that he has gotten. Can’t even get the Butler kids from Greenville or Zion from Spartanburg or The Galloway kid from Seneca. He is a pathetic recruiter.

The letter was "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." As an attorney, I knew BS when I read it. He said nothing about BB's contract (restructured or not?). Nothing in the letter about specific expectations for 2022-23 (i.e., none). Same old, same old. The administration does not care about basketball and uses the basketball program to balance the athletic budget. The only things, if anything, that will get Neff's attention are declining ticket sales and attendance.

We must have read different letters. All I saw was some garbage about plans to return to the NCAA tournament, with no details and no year the return will occur.

Neff said he had "plans" to return to the NCAA tourney at some unspecified time. Don't you think all the prior ADs had plans to improve the basketball program? I would hope so. See the LJ renovations. How did these plans go? Badly. I see no sustained improvement. Let's assume all the prior ADs had plans (i.e., made efforts) to improve basketball. So how is Neff doing anything different? They all had "plans." Are we to assume then that Neff is smarter, more capable than everyone single one of his predecessors? Possible, but unlikely. Time will tell. What is the only current difference between Neff and his predecessors? NIL. Gosh, do you think other universities know about NIL? I'll go out on a limb and say "yes." Do you think these universities are planning to use NIL to better their basketball programs. I think we can all safely agree the answer is again, "yes."
Did Neff provide any specific details on his big plans? No. I guess we'll see. I don't see any problem with making these big plans public since we are going to find out about them sooner or later.
Bottom line, Neff expects us to believe he can do what his predecessors could not do with the same coach. In other words, nothing is going to change - until Brownell is replaced. It's mindboggling people can't see this.

There will be ZERO true excitement going into the next basketball season for anyone.

Kicked the can down the road another year which is a movie we have been watching for awhile. In other words, he said I’m not really prepared today.
