Re: No, don’t care for those to either and their religious ########…

His "sin" was in being selective about which of God's statements apply to modern situations that have to be extrapolated.

God says He makes it to rain on both just and unjust--evidence of His mercy and general beneficence to all, for now.

But His Word also makes it clear that He will judge peoples (i.e., cultures, nations, tribes) that practice and sanction the unnatural sexual practices (as opposed to simply practicing the natural sin of immorality). There is no expiration date for this warning.

If PR gave his analysis as a warning rather than a condemnation, you should be thanking him.

If you'd rather, you could always endorse Islam's approach to homosexuality. The Koran seems preoccupied with the topic. Over 3% of the chapters include conversations between Allah and Lot while he lived in Sodom. Those, my friend, are not warnings. PR was much more polite than the Koran.

I am well aware of the vodou ceremony. You're aware that the ceremony asked for and made sacrifice to:

"This God who made the sun, who brings us light from above, who raises the sea, and who makes the storm rumble. That God is there, do you understand? ... he wants us to do good deeds. But the God who is so good orders us to vengeance. He will direct our hands, and give us help ... Listen to the liberty that speaks in all our hearts."

Sounds a whole lot like the exact same god christians worship to me. So why is this a pact with the devil? Because the people at the ceremony were black people enslaved by white Frenchmen?

Go find something good he did and come back and report.

For a number of years I thought he was an absolute clown then I came to learn of some of the things he had done which truly promoted his faith and did good for others . I also learned he came from a rather well to do family, was a marine pilot and a graduate of Yale law... left me with the distinct impression he had plenty of ways to make money ( which he probably didn't need anyhow).

The guy knew how to stick his foot in his mouth to be sure and he could be devisive, but I learned there was a lot more to the guy than the caricature most of us are most familiar with.

Just two days after the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001, Robertson welcomed the Rev. Jerry Falwell onto his show to discuss the cause of the tragedy. Falwell's list of guilty parties included "the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle," not to mention the ACLU and People for the American Way for good measure. Robertson's response to Falwell's venom? "I totally concur."

Robertson and the terrorists had a lot in common then. That could pass as list of their grievances against the 'Great Satan's,. You can add having Anton LaVey as Chaplain of the USAF for a time and allowing 'Devil worshippers their right to free exercise of religion.

I do realize PR shared Falwell's perspective though.

So this is what I’ve learned from this thread;

STERLING is a feminist, loves abortion, doesn’t believe in he** and hates Christians. Oh, and thinks everyone else is a moron that disagrees.

And possibly doesn’t like Pat Robertson either.

I’m only forming this opinion off of what STERLING said since I don’t know the person AT ALL, but that’s fair since that’s how he/she seems to form opinions of others that he/she doesn’t know AT ALL.

But, this is the world that we live in now.

None of the supernatural events have. There isn't evidence of a worldwide flood, talking animals, a Semitic tribe worshiping Yahweh in Egypt or people rising from the dead. What we have are claims. Book of Mormon and the Quran also have fantastic claims. It doesn't make them true.

> Events of the New Testament were prophesied hundreds of years before in the Old Testament.

Yeah, that's not how prophecy works. The NT writers were aware of prophecies and wrote them in. That isn't proof that they happened.

Serving others and trying to make the world a better place is what we all should do as good people regardless of spiritual/religious beliefs.

If it only comes from people because they think they’ve gotta do what someone tells them to do versus what they truly think is right as a decent human being, then I’ll have to refer to what Rust said in the video about those people.

In other words, if you are only nice to other people and unselfish because you are religious, then you need to look within.

I’ve known atheists who were truly nice and caring people and wouldn’t harm a fly and religious people that would slit your throat in a heartbeat if they could justify it in their minds.

You can eyeroll one of the most established scientific theories we have all you want, doesn't make it any less true.

You'll believe an ancient book that says a snake talked, but won't look at actual evidence of snakes evolving. Sounds like a personal problem.

> So why don’t we just take whatever we want and knock off the weak? Instead of getting married and having a family, why don’t we just try to hook up with as many hot chicks as possible over our adult lifetimes? That kind of stuff would actually be better for the gene pool and the human race evolution.

So you're saying the only reason you don't "knock off the weak" is because you believe in god? That's scary and telling...

> We don’t do that though.

And neither do the vast majority of people who aren't Christians. How does that help your argument?

Also, have you read the bible? Read it and get back to me when you find out who wiped out the most people. It wasn't non-christians...

> You’re making circular arguments. Are you sure you’re not a Birm scok?

> You’re claiming it’s obviously evolution even though you can’t debate basic tenets of Darwinism.

lol what? Are we reading the same thread?

Who gives an F about "darwinism". That's something ignorant religious people talk about. I'm talking about the established theory of evolution based on the facts of the fossil record and DNA sequencing that unequivocally proves we evolved over time.

> Second, in the very first Book of Genesis, the Bible says people have free will and are susceptible to sin. You’re arguing that because atheists don’t know or refuse to believe these things but still do some good things, that somehow disproves Christianity?

It also says a snake talked and humans were created in a day. Neither of those things are true.

> As for your last statement, there were a lot of warring factions back in those times. Should we persecute Muslims today? They haven’t gotten with the times in many parts of the world.

You missed the point. Who did most of the killing in the bible? Don't act like it's "evil atheists" performing all the atrocities when god himself supposedly wiped out pretty much the entire earth because he didn't like his own creation.

1.) You don't listen well. I'm talking about the fact that you think evolution revolves around Darwin.

> You say it’s because evolution somehow caused us to have pity on the weak because it’s somehow better for the human race. It’s exactly the opposite. The human race would be so much stronger if survival of the fittest applied.

No it isn't, it's helpful to your "tribe" and to help each other. There are obvious downsides to this as well, but it's easily explainable without invoking the supernatural.

2.) Most christians believe this is literal.

3.) Revelation barely made canon, and it's obvious why. It's batchit insane.

How does this help your argument anyway? You say evolution would make us all bloodthirsty, and then ignore the fact that the OT god was the most bloodthirsty of all.

You're saying that a perfectly loving omniscient god created something he knew full well he would destroy? What kind of quackery is that? That doesn't sound loving or omniscient at all.

> You argue about as poorly with this as you did with the vaccination stuff where you got spanked.

lol did I? You saw that older people die more often from Covid, you did not show that the vaccines aren't effective.

> And it is you that doesn’t read well. From the very first book of the Bible, God gave man the choice and stated that sin would exist.

So God created sin, got it.

> It’s not God destroying the world as it is man destroying the world from being tempted by Satan.

Um, no, it's literally is God destroying the creation that he made.

> You can see the gradual decline everywhere these days.

Can we? It seems to me that the world was always full of people doing evil stuff. At least we don't get burned at the stake for not believing certain religions anymore.

> Christians believe Jesus will return one day to fix it and the Believers wil be spared in eternity.

And you are allowed to believe whatever you want. But it's completely based on faith and not evidence.

> This concept is completely lost on people such as yourself who believe your existence is entirely comprised of this short time on Earth. Good luck.

Nah, you are just indoctrinated with the specific local religion you grew up with. If you were born in India or China you almost certainly wouldn't be a Christian. It's highly unlikely that the specific brand of a specific religion that you belong to is the correct one.

How do you know you aren't going to Mormon or Muslim hell? They have the same arguments you do.

I'm honestly perplexed at what you think you are seeing in these data. This graph shows how effective the vaccine is at preventing death.

> As for the vaccinations, I said most of the deaths are in the 65+ crowd even though 8-9 out of 10 of them are vaccinated. You asked for proof and I gave it to you. You then tried to switch the argument to “well they’re not dying as much” or “they were gonna die anyway.”

That is not what happened but ok. I asked what your argument even was (since it's not clear) so I assume you are trying to make an argument that vaccines are not effective.

> Why aren’t the younger people dying since they’re much less likely to be vaccinated?

Because older people are less able to fight off a virus than younger people? That's easy. You need to compare vaccinated to unvaccinated in the same cohort, that will give you the answer you seem to be misunderstanding.

> Look at the attached graphs from the CDC during the same time period I’ve been discussing. The lines are all converging and the 80+ booster crowd has a worse rate than the non-booster crowd. I bet most of that crowd believed if they just followed directions and got their jabs then it was back to life as usual.

Man, again, I don't understand what you think you are seeing here. It couldn't be more clear that vaccinated people (regardless of cohort) were significantly less likely to die than the unvaccinated.

The fact that deaths are trending down and converging isn't strange at all. The latest strain could be less deadly, many of the people who didn't fair well against the virus have already died or have immunity from getting it originally (this works but is statistically more dangerous than just getting vaccinated).

That top line you see should be a giant screaming warning to 80+ year olds that they should have been vaccinated. So many unnecessary deaths because of the misinformation people like you are spreading.

To make sure this is crystal clear, if everyone in that graph was vaccinated, that top "unvaccinated: 80+" line would be where the solid blue "vaccinated without updated booster: 80+" line is. So many people that lost their lives for no reason so please, please stop pushing this nonsense.

> You’re going from an insignificant number to a slightly less significant number, neither of which are zero.

You are a perplexing person. These numbers are not insignificant when we are talking about millions of people dying.

Answer me this. Are the vaccines effective at preventing death from covid?

> What about the 80+ booster crowd being worse off, Socrates?

Worse off than who? It's almost identical to the boosted 80+ cohort. That is not strange at all at this stage of the virus. Or are you still comparing across cohorts?

I have to say, I honestly don't think you understand this data.

From here on out, I can safely write off your opinion when you show me data that is the exact opposite of what you are claiming.

so let me get this straight, the vast majority of that data shows that it SIGNIFICANTLY decreases your chance of dying and you are hung up on the tiny blip where there is overlap on boosted vs just the vaccine?

There is only one reason I can think of that you are doing that.

>Yes, the vaccines slightly reduce the risk of dying from a virus

No, it's significant, look at your own graph. You are multiple times more likely to die without the vaccine.

> that has about a .2% mortality rate to begin with.

What is 0.2% of millions is a big number.

> The original argument was about how this applied to the young athletes coming to the WH. It doesn’t. Absolutely no reason they should be required to be vaxxed or wear a mask.

When I asked you what your argument was before, you didn't bring this up, so not what I was arguing against but ok.

> And I’m fine if you write me and everyone else off on here.

I should, it's really bad...
