What the hell sense does it make to go through all this...

...as a cost-savings exercise, only to shell out $5,000 apiece to every household?
Are we trying to lower government spending or not?

what could go wrong? The stimulus checks were way too small, these will be much bigger! First get that debt ceiling raised.

That doesn't change whether it is a good idea or bad idea? Do you think we should give out 5k stimulus checks to everyone? Of course nobody will return them, but is it a good idea to give them to everyone?

That would be a drop in the bucket compared to what I've paid in taxes over the last 50+ years of my life. And, I'll guess that you're pretty much in the same boat.

know better unlike Trump. Just trying to buy support. If we sign off on this, we can cancel Trump’s request to increase the debt ceiling $4T then right, because we are flush with excess cash?

I didn't realize, but last week's inflation spike, comes up to a 9% yearly rate

if it continues. It just ticked up the yearly average a bit, but if you took last month and went another 11 months with identical increases, we'd have 9% yearly inflation.
