You better hope that Tanner does not promote Chad Holbrook.

Jul 14, 2012, 10:21 AM

Holbrook was the 2011 Assistant Baseball Coach Of The year. ESPN has ranked Holbrook as the number 10 best recruiter in ALL of college sports and the BEST recruiter in college baseball. For one year, Holbrook was the Head Coach, in the Cape Cod league, of the Harwich Mariners, where he led them to the league Eastern Division Championship.

We'll find out. But, it wasn't until Holbrook got to SC that

we attained elite status. The fact is that Ray has been transitioning into an administrative role for awhile now, assisting President Pastides. In the meantime, Tanner gave Holbrook a lot of responsibility to run the program, while Ray was learning the administrative ropes.

Be a move scar regrets on multiple levels, mark my words. Eric hyman already has criticized the move instead of hiring a national search committee. He was the force behind scars recent success and the best AD in America in my opinion.

maybe, maybe not -- only time will tell. the comments might also have arisen because tanner was expected to make about 40% more than hyman, despite hyman being a proven AD. 40% more to the new guy without the resume is sure to ruffle some feathers (no pun intended). and sure enough, tanner is now signed on at about a 38% increase over hyman. who knows if the jab was personal, or if it was an actual criticism? again, only time will tell...

it's not like Ray is not well qualified to be the AD. In addition to helping Pastides administratively in recent years, he had athletic administration experience at NC State and has a Masters degree in Public Administration. I don't know why but, there were rumblings in recent years that Hyman did not like Ray. Tanner's promotion is a wise move by Carolina. If they had brought in an outsider, who knows whether the outsider would have been able to mesh in and have chemistry with Spurrier, Martin, Staley and Tanner along with the remaining administrative staff? The Athletic Department KNOWS Tanner and was very supportive of Ray getting the job. And one thing that's not being mentioned is that we lost only a female, lower level administrator to Hyman and Texas A&M. Hyman's top 2 administrators, not only are staying on, but are given promotions and pay increases.

I would have been shocked if Ray didn't support Tanner for the job. From all indications, Ray and Frank have gotten along well since Frank arrived. In fact, Frank appears to be a "hit" with all the department employeees, from what I'm told, unlike the prickly Daren Horn.

dang. horn was my favorite coach that y'all had. after this year, when sos has hit the highway,y'all will have none of the coaches that gave usuc it's "glory years" and usuc will revert back to being what they truely are,and where they rightfully belong, 2nd in the state.

You sound like a bunch coots trolling for compliments. I have a feeling the coots recent success is over. You lost your AD and your baseball coach, genius! Clemson owns you!
