What's your set up battery wise?

Right now have a deep cycle that is running everything. At one point we had a starter battery that only the motor was tied to then everything else went on the deep cycle

But, the most important part to a trolling motor

Get a daggum lithium 12V battery for it.
They are cheap and sooooo much better than lead acid.
A 50Ah is good for a day of fishing from a smallish boat (17 ft or less).
A 100Ah would probably take you over 30 miles before dying.
Amazon - Ecoworthy $110
There are others that are cheaper with good reviews you could probably risk it for $90 on a 50Ah.

It is not for cranking, it is for trolling only

They do do cranking lithiums, but they are limited to certain engines and very pricey.

Do you really even need a trolling motor?

I've always considered you an excellent troll without even having a motor if that helps in your decision-making process at all.
