Move To The "Big 12" Would Be Stupid

Sure, a team in S. Carolina affiliated with a bunch of MidWest Teams... for a couple mil more? Can you imagine traveling to Iowa State to see a game? Do you know where Iowa State is? Its in Ames, Iowa .... far north west side of Iowa. Its like Cornfields and cold..... That few million difference would be eaten big time by the expense of getting there .... AND, you have to pay big bucks to leave the ACC. From a financial point of view, it makes no sense. Now if the SEC comes calling, its worth considering. THE BEST solution is to make ACC Football better! The "Football Schools" of the ACC ie Clemson, Florida State, VaTech and yes, the potential good Football schools of the ACC BC, Miami and VIRGINIA! should have a "sit down" with Swofford and just tell him bluntly to get out of the back pocket of Duke, UNC or put in his resignation. Swofford works for the ACC overall, not for UNC and Duke. I believe he lives in the Raleigh/Durham area ...

I would think Big 12 would pay 50-75% of the buyout.***

its not just a couple mil more. It will be in the area of about 5-8 mil more. The ACC countract wont start seeing benefits until like 7 yrs from now. Swofford has proven time and time again he wants this to be a basketball conference. We dont want to be a part of a conference that doesnt have FSU in it. SC makes and spends 20mil more than us. (not acceptable) Sure the trip to Iowa sucks but BC, Syracuse, Pitt, and Miami arent just a couple hr drive away. The money isnt coming from whether or not the seats in the stands are full it comes from how many people are watching it on tv. If Clemson fans dont travel to Big 12 games the games will still be pretty full with the home crowd. Can you say the same thing about Duke, Wake, BC, Miami, or even the ACC championship game?

you pull FSU, Clemson, GT and VT to a new big 12, then a move might make sense. Otherwise, I'm not so sure.
The only question I have there is who are the other three teams in the Big14 east?

Mizzou will be in the SEC East. We don't play LSU annually.
I think the thing that those who oppose a move to the Big 12 fail to remember is that you would not have to play all those Midwest and Southwest teams annually.

Most likely the ACC can't be fixed. Even if Swofford was replaced it would still have too many dead weight football programs that drag down the amount of money the conference gets from its TV deal. That's the problem. Clemson is at a huge revenue disadvantage to South Carolina. They'll be the top football program in the state if this continues.

simply stated the football schools have had years upon years to get better but we all have simply floundered. the ignorance in stating that BC and Virginia (what about Pitt and Syracuse )are potential football school is unmatched. VaTech has been exactly were they belong. Clemson and FlaSt simply do not fit and are not welcome in the ACC as football powerhouses.your travel argument is simply ignorant because the list of teams that dont travel in the ACC is a far longer list than the list of BXII teams that dont travel and the last time I checked the BXII pays all travel expenses and then divides the TV contract money afterward. YOU are simply living in the past and refuse to see the future and other things Im sure(the Gamecocks have passed us due to money) .
