Get Notre Dame to join the ACC

Lot of positives, few negatives. It would be good to have a SHOT at their arses every now and then!

No thanks. Adding another geographic and cultural misfit to the ACC is one thing, but adding a school with ND's arrogance is even worse.

Not sure UNC would want that challenge to their authority. ND would be one of those "tails that wag the dog" type schools.

I am not in favor of ND but lets face it they would fit in all regions as far as crowds go.Don't know how much difference cost of travel would be for um going to nd and um going to boston.

You would have about as much of a chance of getting Notre Dame to join the ACC as you would getting a scuba diver down to cap that leaking oil well in the gulf.In other words,if Notre Dame has resisted joining either the Pac 10,or the Big 10,what makes you think they would join the ACC?

Notre Dame is 700+ miles from Clemson

but that is closer to us then BC and Miami. Geographically it is not far fetched. If we added Louisville (excellent bball and good football), Cincy (good basketball and decent football) and West Virginia (excellent basketball and football) there would be a contiguous link with ACC states.

It's about money. ACC can't offer that to ND. Big Ten can.

It's called the Big Ten Network. It's about $$ distributed per school in the conference. It's about ND's contract with CBS. Read up about it. Powerful stuff.

It's also about the CIC research money that ND would have

access to in the Big-10. That far trumps the money from the BTN.

ND fans feel they are a better fit in the ACC...

ND is not a big research school like the members of the Big 10 are. If they joined the BIG 10 that would have to change but is Notre Dame willing to accept the challenge.
Checking out ND message boards, their fans feel ND is a better fit in The ACC. School size, academics, research money and overall athletic dept.
Outside of the big 2 sports look at some of their other sports teams
Baseball - good program, big 10 not very good better fit in acc. W Soccer - ND has won a national championship, not much in big 10. acc very strong LAX - Big 10 does not offer as a sport only a couple of teams field the sport. ACC is #1 conference. Field Hockey - Big 10 does not offer as a sport only a couple of teams field the sport. ACC is #1 conference.

Hmm. They could be a better fit, really haven't looked at

that aspect. They have always been associated with the Big-10 and PAC-10 schools probably because of their historic rivalries with some teams in those conferences. I am somewhat surprised for the above reason that ND fans would think the ACC would be a better fit.
