Tree killing advice.

Trying to get rid of pecan seedlings around my foundation that tree rats have planted. Can’t dig or pull them up. Also trying to kill a China berry. Any suggestions?

regular Round Up and a couple of other things and they seem to act as fertilizer - didn't even turn the leaves brown. That plant is a pain, covering about a quarter of an acre and keeps moving .... starting to creep into the street.

This is what I had to do. Took a few doses to completely kill it.
Plus, I pulled up all of the vines (which is a major PAIN), then I sprayed the ground at every point that the runners had rooted.
Then I had a buddy dig up the stumps. You should have seen the vine root ball that came out of the ground.

Go to Tractor Supply, they have a brush killer that is deadly. It ain't cheap. You have to keep after it, it is hard to get rid of.

I had to cut several trees (some as big as 8-10" in diameter) from a ###. Immediately after cutting, I took full strength (concentrated) RoundUp, and "painted" (with a small paint brush) it all over the cut on top of the stump, especially on the green cambium layer around the outer edge of the stump. After it dried somewhat, I put another coating on each stump. Every stump fully died down to the roots, and no knew sprouts popped up. Been two years now, and still clean.

Round Up is glysophate and is most effective with grasses. You need a different herbicide. Crossbow is effective. 2.4-D if the plants are small will also work. Go to your local farm supply store and talk to them.

That'll ruin the soil for growing anything else for a while. Which may not be a bad thing depending on what the long term plan is for the area

That is the strongest ready to use Round Up for sure but bang for buck Round Up Pro is much more economical. I've had my big jug of it for a couple years now and use it a lot

Unless you like paying a lot for water, always but the strongest percentage of the main ingredient (glyphosate in the case of RoundUp) and dilute it yourself. I use a backpack sprayer.

Choose a product containing Triclopyr. Be careful if it also contains imazapyr since that chemical is soil active and may harm or kill other nearby plants or trees that could absorb it. Just look at the active ingredient list on the label of the product. The main ingredient in most Roundup products is glyphosate but that chemical doesn't work on everything.

Use your roundup or what ever 245T that you choose to use during the hottest part of the day when the stomata of the leaves are fully open.

Good luck. None of the stump and brush killer is as good as it was after all the changes due to the "health" concerns. Now the main ingredient is glyphosate which is a salt. I used to get the concentrated bottles and would double the amount of herbicide recommended. Also a salt and water mix will kill about anything.
If I cut down a small tree now, I drill a hole (s) in the stump and pour in Epson or other salt. Just don't drill into the roots or through the stump because some plants love Epsom salt and it will be like fertilizer.

Simply, just use salt or a salt water mixture if you don't want to buy the expensive weed killer.
2 or 3 cups of rock salt dissolved in a gallon of hot water, then poured into a sprayer for dispersal will kill about any weed or small tree.

Use crossbow. It will kill any brushy plant and even small trees that roundup won't touch. Roundup may burn the leaves off but often times will not kill something that's not grassy.

That will work, also if you drill a hole and add salt in it, drill another hole & add hydrogen peroxide, it will die quickly & be safe for other plants.

I have to kill trees (mostly black willow) that encroach on my dams. Cut stem with a level cut using limb loopers or a chain saw. Drill a hole about 1/2" deep into the center of the stump using a 1" auger drill bit. Wearing rubber gloves, use a foam brush fill the hole with Round-Up. I keep a foam brush in a plastic jar of Ovaltine for that purpose - it's just the right size to contain the brush with a little bit of round-up. Once you're set up it doesn't take much time or effort. Been doing this for years with great success.

am having a war with from neighbors yard. Add a tick of dawn (or something like that) to the sprayer. Helps make sure you get the leaf wet out fully and makes it wet out some of the things that have a little water repellancy.

If none of these other suggestions work, I can get my ex-wife to cook something (anything really) and apply it to any tree or shrub. Problem solved.
Be sure to keep any animal or loved one away from the area.

I’ll have my ex come care for it. I’ve also found Roundup brush and vine killer does the trick. I don’t follow mixing instructions either. If a little will do it twice as much will too.

Wear latex gloves and put any weed killer on the plants by hand. It won't harm anything next to the plats.
