Brownell and the future...
Dec 30, 2013, 8:00 PM
|
|
Let's face it, a coach like BB is going to be the best type we are ever going to get.
We must give him every available resource and show we want a successful basketball program.
No, we don't expect a Final Four, but we do expect to get in the Big Dance, 3 out of 5 years.
A revamped arena, yes! And do not make it smaller. Go a bit larger, the university needs it and we must step forward. And it must be "state of the art".

I would not waste my time watching such a useless matchup.
But, if we are going have basketball, let's at least play it in a decent arena.
LJ is a dump!

win constitutes "getting closer", you hit the nail right on the head.
No offense, cuz I know you're a true Tiger fan, but most of the folks on Tnet need to preface any post about basketball with:
"I don't know as much about basketball as I do football, BUT......"

formula for Clemson basketball, imo.
Recruit the best athletes you can find and have them play a frantic pace. If some show basketball skills then all the better.

Many of you should stick to the reality shows on t.v. and leave sports to the real men! This is the most exciting basketball team we have had in years. I never thought I would live long enough to see the Tigers shoot free throws the way these guys do it. If you don't like watching Hall and Roper and McD and the others, you don't know s$^*.

Incredible to see the Tigers second in the ACC in free throw percentage. No one would have predicted that. Looks like they improved their average tonight. You have to think this team can surprise a few ACC teams this year. I'll be in Chapel Hill just in case.

don't cheer for the Tigers TOO loudly, Roy'll have you thrown out.
Of course, if we do actually win, you have my permission to punch the closest unc fan....and then we'll begin the "Brad Brownell For Governor" campaign.

A team that can hits the boards, make free throws, keeps turnovers to a minimum, and plays solid 'D' that doesn't allow cheap baskets will be competitive in most games. It amazes me how many 'experts' on this board do not understand fundamental Basketball. Personally, I am a big fan of our coach and his knowledge of the game. I am also a huge fan of those players that buy into his system. Rod Hall is a great example. Go Tigers

The real reason Clemson loved OP

He played a style of basketball the average football fan could understand. Up and down the court, out athlete them, and run the most basic of sets. Brownlee runs all dis crap wit players running round all over the place.

playing with after Stitt and Grant graduated and ran to the $$$$$. Our talent level is finally getting back to an ACC level and the 2 guys we have coming in will just accentuate that. Could you imagine trying to run OP's press scheme with Milt as the point man on the press and Devin and Bobo as the back end defense?

I think the best chance Clemson basketball has for success is to find a coach that presents recruits with a stark contrast to the elite teams in the ACC. So that the elite players that don't want what they have to offer, will choose Clemson. Since they are predominantly older white men, I think Clemson should find a young african american coach.

Despite their past South Carolina shocked the world when
Dec 31, 2013, 7:10 AM

they landed one of the best football coaches of the game...Steve Spurrier.
Now, they may not have won championships, but Spurrier has been successful changing the mindset at S.C. They know they still have a ways to go, but they believe they have attained some relevancy...and they have.
Therefore, I tend to be cautious with statements predetermining what we may or may not be able to do. If Clemson wants to change its BB culture, then one of the first steps will have to be going after one of the best coaches of the game, if and when Coach Brownell leaves.
Concurrently, our entire family will have to make a renewed (and meaningful) commitment toward building our program....It's one of those "crap and get off the pot" times.
