Here is a fun fact:
25% of the teams who do not use the portal have won a championship
3% of the teams who do use the portal have won a championship

I am absolutely sure those figures are not correct if you dig really deep. For example Dabo has technically used the portal, but generally speaking… yes it’s close. From another post someone said Army, Navy, Air Force, and Clemson have not used the portal. So with 128 teams in FBS:
1 / 4 = 25%
4 / 124 = 3%

Here is a fun question: are the posters who blast Dabo for not using the portal the same people who blasted him in 2010-2014 for the way he recruited and managed his roster?

The transfer portal was introduced on 10/15/18 so that would have been the 2019 class and Dabo has won zero natties in the portal era.
100% of the teams that have won the natty since have had a least one portal starter; the reverse is irrelevant. It’s like saying only 3% of the teams that use helmets have won a natty in the portal era

Totally agree, it’s like saying Dabo hasn’t won a National Championship because he hasn’t used the portal. Correlation doesn’t imply causation.

Can't say that either... LSU won the National Championship in 2019 without a starting player from the Transfer Portal. Joe Burrow transferred as a "grad transfer" in May 18, 2018 before the Transfer Portal was implemented. So, I guess we are both "technically" wrong since Dabo has taken 2 portal transfers, but I love the back and forth.
