Loudest games at Death Valley

I was thinking of how loud I'm going to be screaming at Aaron Murray game one and am interested in other games you may recall being very loud! For me 2005 against Miami is the loudest game I've ever been to. That's when we played music in between plays when our d line would jump up and down and go crazy. Think Georgia game will be louder!

I agree, I was 4th row on the 15 and I could not hear myself think, the noise was insane! Too bad Charlie missed Stuckey!

When I started reading your post, that Miami game jumped into my mind. I would say that was the loudest I have ever heard. I think that was the loudest reading of noice ever at DV if I'm not mistaken.

1977 vs. Notre Dame was the most amazing game I've

ever witnessed. ND coach made comments about Clemson's crowd needing to behave before the game. The ND Athletic Director sent a letter to Clemson about keeping our rowdy fans under control. The letter was published in The Tiger.
Pre-game you could hear a pin drop (orchestrated silent treatment). In pre-game, Tiger Band marched and pretended to play but was silent. The crowd pretended to clap their hands over their heads but didn't connect the hands - silent clap motions. When the team touched Howard's Rock and ran down the heal, the place erupted. It stayed incredibly loud throughout.
By the way, this was before either of the upper decks, and I'm still not sure Death Valley has ever been louder. Joe Montana was the ND QB. Tigers lost a close game (21-17, I think). ND went on to win the National Championship.
My very first game in Death Valley. I fell in love that day and my love for Clemson is as strong today (or stronger) as it was 36 years ago.

I sat in the South Upper Deck.
The first year it was there.
YES! The Silent Treatment was wonderful and could be organized again!
Actually easier to organize with cellphones and websites.

I was thinking about that also. If I recall Aaron Kelly sort of dropped a pass late but was really hacked in his left arm as he was stretching out to make the catch.

My vote for loudest game would be Bowden Bowl I, but I am less confident about that one.

I enjoyed 2009 when CJ Spiller returned the opening kickoff 96 yards against MTSU. Way to open a game but that smash against the Miami QB was the loudest moment I've seen at DV. For sure. I seem to remember the 1996 vs Georgia Tech had its moments in a 28-25 Tiger win. The 2004 PeachBowl vs. Tennessee was loud...prior to the end of the 1st half. Bowden Bowl was great as DV was electric; my parents last game. I'll never forget Bowden Bowl.

Auburn 11 was extremely loud when Coty sealed the game w the pic... And then FSU the following week when Rennie made the sack on 4th to seal that one as well.. Those are the 2 loudest I recall outside of 03 and beating FSU. I am only 27, so I wasn't around for the glory days of the 70's and 80's..

Over the years I have been to many games that were very loud, the 2011 FSU game was the 1st time it made my ears hurt, only other times were in "LJ" maryland (we won ACC) & cockerel games back to back wins, yea I know I'm getting older but I covered my ears with my hands and kept on yelling could not talk for 2 days, some that know me said it was a good thing.

Its like the steriod era in baseball.. The enclosure has made a difference. Pre. would be Georgia game w/ safety in west endzone & Maryland fight game (when we were pissed at the ACC). Post = Miami, FSU, "Hells Bells"...Also sound system helps create the chaos.

I remember it being one of those rare games where I left the stadium happy even though we lost. The Tigers definitely left it all on the field that day.

the day. I remember thinking this year's Chicken Kickin' was going to be louder than 2005 Miami. For as much "talk" as there was on Tnet about people being loud and worked up for the 1st night game in what felt like centuries...it was a big letdown. Not loud at all.
I doubt we surpass the loudness of the Miami game vs UGA, even maybe ever. That was one loud game... so loud you could actually FEEL the sound. I'm pretty sure even Frank Howard felt it that day from his spot just behind the stadium.

With expectations and interest being so high, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets passed up this year. Everybody will be very anxious to see us beat a highly ranked UGA squad. However, should FSU go unbeaten into our matchup with them... watch out. It could be a E$PeoN gameday type of night matchup that will decide the division and conference title. That one could break records.
It'd be great if we are unbeaten going into the Thursday-nighter at home against Tech. Not saying that one will break records but you had best believe that the tempo on campus will be phenomenal.

2011 Auburn: Coty's INT
Jul 10, 2013, 12:18 AM
|
|
I've only been to 6 games in the Valley but that was the first time in my life that noise actually hurt. I was right next to the student section and yelling my lungs out before the play when the QB was making his adjustments, then he went back up to the line and the whole place just exploded! I admit I stopped yelling for a second just so I could hear the noise, and it was painful. Then the Valley exploded again when Coty got the interception. Still the best game I've ever been to not counting 2010 Auburn.
