Heard about the divorce.
Heard that Swinney had to talk him out of leaving once...maybe twice.
Heard he was seeing team psych.
Depression? Home sick? Hates the area?
Just looking for understanding of why he "seems" to not care about the outcome no matter the situation.

Who knows. The kids has been through a lot, even if it's "just" his parent's divorce and his seemingly over-bearing father. He was a highly recruited 5-star who has basically tanked. We talk about our expectations, but we never consider his expectations for himself, which were probably higher than ours were for him. As much as he's been a letdown to us fans, he's probably exceptionally disappointed with himself and frustrated at his lack of consistency and ability to perform up to expectations/capability. That has to take a toll on a young man like him.

I have not seen anything that I would consider to be legitimate information on DJ's mindset. I've seen a ton of speculation, innuendo and guesses here on T-Net about DJ and why his performance has been so bad, why he hasn't been benched and his future plans. The actual truth is we don't know. We know his parents got divorced, how much that actually affected him is not widely known or reported. We don't know why he's QB1 other than the public reasons Dabo has given. Whether we agree, disagree or are ambivalent is irrelevant, we're just fans posting on a fan site and have no direct influence of the coach's decision making process. We're just doing what fans do, talking about our favorite teams, offering up our opinions and speculations about everything Clemson related. Sometimes someone comes in with a nugget of truth they picked up, but unless it's David Hood it's usually rare and far in between.

I get the feeling that he had a very stable and consistent family life with little in the way of financial struggles or such and this thing really affected him. I know a lot of our athletes have lots of stories of hard times and broken homes and have had to live through alot before they got here. DJ may just be living that heartache our in front of us.

He also go his first D-1 football scholarship offer in either 6th or 8th grade I forget which. He has always been the biggest, strongest, QB that could throw the ball further than anyone, etc. I don’t think he ever had to work at it until he got to college. Every indication is that he works hard but I can’t help but wonder if he even really knows how to work at something.

I really think a lot of this is the right guy for the wrong system. Put him in the pocket with a good OL that gives him a little extra time and I think he could excel. A West Coast offense like UCLA with Chip Kelly might just be the ticket and I say that as someone that would really like to see DJ succeed somewhere that fits his skills and style of play.

This OL was not bad. I'd even go as far as saying they were good. I'd say they were up there with the best Dabo has had.

They were better on the run but the pocket closed quickly on DJ which is why he scrambled so much. Granted, he needed to be quicker on getting through his progressions, and his WRs needed to get some separation sooner, but this OL was definitely better suited for the run.

We have no idea what has gone on behind the scenes, off the field. Just speculation and rumors. I believe that his parents did have an ugly separation and divorce. I feel badly for him because that’s just bad timing and luck that they separated right before the biggest game of his life. And yes, I hold Dabo and the coaches responsible for the shape he was in last year, mentally and physically for that Georgia game.
Since then, they’ve been having to piece his confidence back together and it has run its course and worn thin.
Many players have gone through circumstances similar to DJ and a lot worse. This has been going on for 2 years. He’s been mentally checked out since the Syracuse game.

I've seen a few random sports pages posting it. Nothing really credible that's why I said "rumor mill". I just found it interesting that non clemson sports pages were posting this rumor.

I’m almost positive that one of the Clemson FB sites had a story about how he was playing football “because that’s what everyone expected of him.” Someone with more time could probably find it online from some time back in September/ October. It would make a lot of sense for why he has regressed if he isn’t “ALL IN.”

Don't really give a hoot except for him being a good kid...as a. CCC fan I care about his QB status and it is way out there in left field! I do not think he is the type of QB necessary for a top tier college program...if he has not been one in 2 years it's not likely that he is going to suddenly find it! We should expect an ephifony!

We really don’t have any reason to know his medical history or problems. The law forbids releasing medical records without the patient’s approval. We have no more right to know his medical issues than he has knowing ours.
