^^^This. I appreciate a feel good story as much as the next guy, and the gamecocks were beginning to get that treatment, but people need to realize that Frank Martin has been and will always be a cheater. I attribute this run to more of luck than skill but I won't deny they've gotten and are in the running for talented recruits. With Martin's past, smoke automatically starts to rise.

Who cares? With basketball and all the one and done players

cheating is the name of the game. You can't sell the big name recruits on how pretty your school is cause they'll only be there for 12 months max. You have to be a high profile program that will have high profile games with national coverage at primetime so they can sell themselves. It's the nature of college basketball and if we continue to recruit players that aren't good enough to make the jump early, we will always be cellar dwellers in the ACC.

I hate to see something like this with zero proof or anything to point to really. He's a cheater? He just took an average at best college basketball team to the final 4. Holy cow. How is any cheating involved in that?
I'm the biggest clemson basketball fan here, I've seen behind the scenes of the program more than any of you have, you can take that to the bank. But frank martin is an outstanding man and head coach who has nothing but respect from me.
Don't make ridiculous accusation, good lord you guys need to stop commenting about basketball. It's so frustrating to see the glaring stupidity and at times makes me feel like we have some of the dumbest fans. Yes the best but still dumb af

" you guys need to stop commenting about basketball. It's so frustrating to see the glaring stupidity."
The fact that you don't even know the checkered past of your own coach (Martin), then go on to write that he is a good and clean coach, is an exact definition of "glaring stupidity". Do better dude.

He has admitted to paying players, he was fired from coaching in Florida for illegally recruiting players, at least one player at KSU was suspended for illegal benefits.
Google is a wonderful tool.

I'd like to hear you're argument...he's liked by all his colleagues and he's taken two football schools to the Elite Eight and beyond this time.
As for cheating....who did he pay for...Felder from NYC who had very few offers? Most guys had ho-hum opportunities and then guys like Dozier, Thornwell and McKie are all SC guys.
I do think they'll be pretty average next season but he's a solid coach and this should really help their recruiting.

K-State is a football school ?
Love me some Bill Snyder, but their returns have been next to none in the football school world they're living in .

Every school has a dominant sport

And you're right that K-State football hasn't been exactly dominant but they do feel more like a football school...as in that's the most important sport there...just like Carolina despite the lack of historical success.
However, I did check out their basketball history and was very surprised...looks like K-State has done really well historically.

Did it mention his scandal in Florida high school basketball?
The largest fine ever imposed.
Probation of a high school team and almost THE DEATH PENALTY - That's BAD!
http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1998-08-12/sports/9808120292_1_fhsaa-miami-high-florida-high-school
In a news release on the association's web site (www.fhsaa.org) FHSAA Commissioner Ron Davis said Tuesday that he considered stripping Miami High of its membership.
But Davis said the ``death penalty'' would have punished innocent athletes and coaches in sports not found to have broken rules.
``Believe me, I considered it,'' Davis said. ``This is one of the most, if not the most, blatant violation of FHSAA rules against recruiting that I have encountered. These were not violations of ommission, but of commission. It's hard for me to believe that the administration was not aware that this was occurring.''
A lesser violation was uncovered in soccer, where Jose Amayo played for the Stingarees beyond the FHSAA age limit of 19 years, nine months.
But in basketball the Miami High machine was found to have trampled the rule book in pursuit of a national reputation.
``Hopefully, this sends a message,'' said Jones, who ironically has had his top player, Marquis Daniels, recruited away by Mount Zion Academy of North Carolina. ``Hopefully, this will make schools, especially public schools, think twice before they talk to a kid or offer a kid something.''
The penalties are in total the most severe ever handed down by the FHSAA, which has governed high school sports since 1921. Miami High must pay a $2,550 fine, plus $5,155.81 in expenses for the investigation, and forfeit basketball, baseball and soccer wins in which ineligible players participated.

Anyone who didn't think he was a solid hire

for SCar at the time was in denial IMO. He will get his share of talent there and he has game coaching skills to boot. Playing in the SEC, you can fare well without having to get too dirty. I don't see them replicating this year's run next season, but they have a recipe there for decent success in the coming years. More likely that the football program runs into NCAA issues considering how desolate things look there and the added pressures with that sport.
