The reason I'm mad, is because FOX News in particular (and the other networks to a demonstrably lesser extent) have made EVERYBODY mad. At each other, at politicians, at doctors, at basically EVERYBODY. Outrage sells.
Did you know that if you go to Chicago, you 100% will get shot and killed? Now, why exactly do multiple millions of people actually believe this? Did you know that the entire city of San Francisco is covered in human feces? So strange! Also, the entire city of Portland burned to the ground. What a shame.
The rhetoric from both sides is garbage, but it's particularly venomous from the FOX pundits. Not the FOX news desk, which still has reasonably good journalistic integrity. The pundits, who tens of millions of old(ish) people BELIEVE is actual news.
THAT is why I'm angry, manac. Believe it. You should be too. This is how our generation loses our parents.

Fox seems to have the same problem.
They realized long ago that their viewers don't want actual news and could care less about the truth. Their target audience is that cohort that's come to be called "low conscientiousness conservatives", which basically means low-empathy humans who want to be told what to think and how to react...in other words, the folks who want to be led and don't really think much on right or wrong beyond what the boss and their fellows think. Worker bees, for the most part...leavened with more cynical and self-aware aristocrats like Tucker (and more than a few lovely, charming characters on our own board, more than a couple of whom show distinct sociopathic and outright psychopathic traits) who know a fairer society in no way suits their power and privilege, and who want to keep the playing field tilted towards themselves.
So Fox doesn't do news. They do populist Infotainment. It's the bad candy their audience craves but really shouldn't have because it's very, very bad for them.
If it sounds like I'm down on Fox News viewers, I'm not, really. I think they'll be as good or bad as the dominant voice they're listening to. But Fox is willfully feeding them the bad candy...because it's so durn profitable.
