The positives of no power.

1. The power bill will be cheaper for the month. 2.The kids are playing outside more and there’s no arguing over who’s watching which tv and who’s playing the Xbox. (We have 9 and 12 yr old boys). 3. The boys are pumped because they are out of school for the week. (Mama not near as excited about it cause she works from home.) 4. Cold showers. Well, I guess they are making all of us tougher and makes us appreciate hot showers more. Anybody have any more reasons to add to the list?

infrastructure in the south is a #### show, mainly because they are not equipped to deal with weather events like this. Expect your property insurance rates to go up, and expect your property taxes to go up to fund the massive overhaul of the storm systems, fixing bridges, raising l levees, and burying power lines, like the rest of the developed world.

Power bill lower but gas to run generators and keep water and freezers going is about 5 times. But yes on reading books. Always for that.

I live off the grid for a month or so each summer out in the Rockies. So, no power just meant pulling out the camping gear. Cranking up the generator to get internet and TV to watch football. Keep my Kindle charged. I have a portable freezer that's still full of meat and had to empty one freezer at my cabin in Aiken Co. to bring back up here to Richland Co. Little extra work to keep all the balls juggled. Just waiting to get power back on down in Monetta to start getting all the trees out of the driveway. That could be another week or more. Lucky no structures damaged. Very lucky.

I am sort of one of those crazy prepper guys. A forced trial run exposes some things in your plan.

It really shows us an appreciation of how great things are because of electricity. It also teaches us how much we depend on it .

I like the books part, I'm an avid reader.
Also like your positive attitude! Two ways to approach an ordeal, keep positive and find the positives, or look for the negatives. I prefer your approach!

1. Cold showers don’t last long so theres no waste of water.
2. Great birth control.
3. You actually get to talk to your family, so you learn things you did not know.
