payout they'd receive. Actually he has a pretty valid argument. Playing a team like Clemson(USC this year) that late in the year serves no prupose other than to beat them up physically before their playoffs

Never heard a coach pretty much come out and challenge his whole team in the press. He doesn't want to play because he is scared of the competition. I am 100 percent sure his guys playing for him would disagree. They know they would be up against it, but they want to compete and show fans why they missed out.

As I said before, you don't want to play, that's fine....

but Clemson absolutely should put the onus right back on Coastal.
Unless and until Coastal locates a suitable replacement opponent, Coastal MUST play the game.

SCAR this year- unless you mean ACC teams. Played NC State before the Coots in 2011 and last season. Besides, the CCU game was to be in September anyway.

A buddy of mine coaches at smaller school and he hates playing big schools. He said it crushes the team morale, and reminds his players they are second rate. Aside from the money, it does no good.

Only benefit is money and they don't need it. He just gave something like 5 million to the program which is about 10-12 games worth of getting beat up bt FBS schools. I wouldn't do it either in his shoes.

We need to put a little better team on the schedule then, maybe a MAC school or something. I don't really see the point in playing FCS/DII teams anymore.

I think they are expecting a good season next year and do not want to get a lose or an injury so they are setting themselves up. Tennesee did this a few years ago with UNC. They agreed to the match up a few years earlier because they thought UNC was going to be an easy win. That was when UNC starting landing good guys and they were supposed to be legit, then Tennesee backed out. Somewhat similar CCU is expected to be good next year and doesn't want to risk it.
