Please don't forget to apply for your FEMA assistance if you were affected by the storm and lost power and had food or property losses. My father-in-law applied on Monday and got his money deposited this morning. He received $750 for grocery and insulin replacement, he only asked for assistance with food and did not ask for any money for storm damage. It took him 5 mins to fill out the application on Monday and his money was deposited this morning. This is open to anyone that is in the affected areas of Helene. FEMA will send between 750-1200$ if your family needs it.

People gripe about government and government workers all the time. This generalization casts shade on the government employees who do their job well.
I have known a few good government employees over my lifetime in a number of jobs.

Shut up.
People do go to work and they can apply at work. People can apply from cell phones. People can call a family member and have them apply for them.
It may be hard for you to understand this, but there are many people affected outside of the Mountains in NC. I know this is hard for you to comprehend, but some folks live paycheck to paycheck and needing insulin and money to replace medications is pretty important to some folks. Just go back to the P&R board and spew you vitriol there.
Just shut your f'ing nonsense up.

ground are not the same ones processing funding requests but you already know that.
I would also tell you that boots on the ground is a massive undertaking, especially in some of these remote areas, but you already know that.
I would also tell you that FEMA and other federal agencies are working to help out, but it takes much more manpower than they have on their own, thus the reason so many others are helping, but you already know that.
Essential items are headed that way, but it aint like they can truck it up there, remote helicopter drops and mule-trains are working supplies to where they can get, but you already know that.
Good luck to your parents, hope they came out relatively unscathed. It is a bad situation.

Lets all try to have cooler heads and come together folks. We all say things or pop off when we're stressed. I know I do.
I hope your family gets the help that they need.
BTW did anyone else see about the private helicopter brigade that's been operating out of Hickory, NC? Pretty freakin cool...

ask it to do. Unfortunately some just take a little longer to reach. You seem to be in contact with your family, there are ways to relay messages to the authorities in order to help reach those that havent been reached. If you can't find these resources, I'll be happy to help you do so.
Please, just ask and your family in need can be reached and helped.

It only asks you what your yearly income is and what you routing and bank # is so they can deposit the money. That is the only financial questions the application asks if I am not mistaken. It takes less than 30 seconds to register an account and the 15 or so questions they ask are generic and take less than 10 second a piece to answer.
Even if it takes 10 minutes, who cares, its assistance to those that need it now.

Yeah possibly. From what I understand they vet the application by determining if the address you entered was affected by the storm, if there was a power outage that lasted for a long period of time, and they send out inspectors to look at the homes and neighborhood before approving anything. I guess this is all happening quickly. I know of several people who have already been approved to help them with some of the cost of home damage, etc.
Now the application does ask a lot more questions regarding your situation but not a lot regarding your financial situation.
