Today I got the boat unlimbered and ready to roll only to find the trolling motor wasn't working.
It was a windless day for the most part, so I decided to just do some drifting and occasionally anchor off of runouts and points.
This was working fine until I pulled up my anchor line to find there wasn't an anchor there anymore. Left it in 40 ft of water. Linchpin had come lose.
Undeterred, I kept fighting. Then one of my lines got caught in the prop. So there's a perfectly fine Carolina rig lost.
Plus no fish were caught all day.
Fishing will humble you.
Thank you for reading this far.

Hahaha. There will always be days where you question everything. Only thing is, it's better than work. You're in God's country, enjoying what He offers. Can never go wrong. When you've had a day like that, I just sit back and live in the moment. Lots of moments out there with, of all people, my father in law

Having the game on the radio was why you caught no fish. The fish were not about to give up listening to Tigers demolishing a pack of wolves.

So where exactly did you lose this anchor? Is it somewhere a diver could go get it?

Remember, a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work anytime.

About 100 yards N/NE of Clemson Marina on the western edge of Seneca River bed
That the DV fireworks went off when I pulled the nub out of the water only added to the irony of the moment.

I'm fishing, I'm on the water. If I'm on the water, I'm happy.

I'd rather be on the lake than pretty well anywhere else on the planet.

A1A - sounds like many a fishing trip when I was a kid.
There was the time when dad lost his balance and dropped his favorite rod and reel in the lake. He told me to strip down and jump in after it. It was only about 6' of water, but it was March and cold.
Sooo many times we would go out and fish, then as we started back to the landing, the old Evinrude had given us all she for the day and we flagged down a passer by to tow us in.
More often than than not the stringer was empty. but I wouldn't trade any of those days for a stringer full.

If I'd have had some diving gear, I'd have gone in after my anchor in a heartbeat on principle.
Probably would've come back up with two or three other anchors to boot.

Man you are so right. I’m fishing at Lake Hartwell, Tugaloo State Park, for the week and the fish are winning.

They seem to still be in a summer lethargy mode. I'm talking about bass not stripers/hybrids. Don't know where the stripers/hybrids are hanging around.
