You might appreciate this.
I saw a picture of one of these online and decided to make one myself. Found an old barrel on Marketplace, cleaned it up and put a finish on it. Secured the bands with screws and cut the opening. Cleaned up the inside (I didn’t know the inside of whiskey barrels were charred to the point the ash makes a huge mess when you cut them open). I have another skull mount due back from the taxidermist sometime soon that I intend to put in here, but used one I had on the wall for now. The barrel was from the Clermont Springs, KY distillery so I got a couple of bottles of bourbon produced at that distillery to put on top. Thank you to all the TNetters who provided opinions on their preferred bourbon brands from this distillery. Going to pop the top on one of those bottles tonight.
And it is not the wrong board because we will use those Clemson glasses to toast the kickoff of the new football season at 11:59 AM on August 31. Also because I ran into Danny Ford when I was at the tool sale where I bought the tool I needed to cut the metal bands.

Not sure if you can make it out in the picture, but that is a “backwards clock”. The numbers are backwards and the hands turn counterclockwise. It tells the correct time but you have to look at it closely and do the “when the little hand is on 5 and the big hand is on 12, it’s 5:00” thing. It is hysterical when people have been drinking and notice the hands running backwards and can’t figure it out. I saw one of those in a bar years ago and had to have one.

Nice piece of work. I've seen them with shelves and lighting for bottle storage, but one with a skull mount is a first.
Of those two bottles, I'd crack the KC 9 yr. 👍

That’s niiiiice. Was going to ask if you put a low watt light in it. That’d look good with the charred inside of barrel. Great work!

Thanks. A couple of friends came in town today for a weekend of golf. One of them just retired so he got to pick. He picked the Basil. It’s pretty good.

Tigers yep. Bourbon of course.
But my last hunt for animals was age 8 or 9 with Pop. Rabbits/ squirrels.Team sports after that.
I'll just shop the meat dept.

The 2 bourbons I have here were produced at the distillery where the barrel came from. Woodford reserve was not produced there.

Really nice. Another alternative would be to take the cut out, put hinges on it and put a shelf in in and make it a liquor cabinet. Turn the deer mount into a lamp and sit on top.

I have seen one of those lamps. I am thinking about putting a bar table mounted on 2 barrels next to this. The skull mount lamp could sit on the bar table.
