Saban has not lost an early-season Neutral site game since 2007, his first year at Bama.
They are not as deep as us, and their greenies are greener than our greenies, but they will be overwhelming to that Duke OL and first-year QB.
I just hope they don't hurt the Dukies too bad to ruin their season. You know those Bama boys that quit in the 4th quarter have got something to prove, and they still can play smash-mouth, bully-style football as well as anybody.

Few/None of the talking heads were talking about us in the beginning last year. They were just waiting for a few games when they were sure Clemson would drop down several spots and be forgotten in the CFP picture. The only talking head I remember giving us some early season love was Pollack. He said something on twitter like "discount Clemson at your own peril." He seemed to indicate people had given up on Clemson way too soon and he didn't see it.

Last year's preseason was #5, right?
Considering how we finished 2017, and who our starting QB was, and how he started the year vs. Furman, I think #5 was generous.
We didn't become one of the nation's best teams until our keep-the-ball-instead-of-passing-or-handing-it-off QB went to the bench.
There is no disrespect in that.

Coots still claiming moral victories and spinning the truth
Aug 19, 2019, 12:35 PM
|
|
the little spur is reporting that the cooters are "getting some love" because they are included in the others receiving votes... not going to link it but here is the first paragraph of the article:
'The first Associated Press Top 25 Poll of the 2019 college football season was released on Monday afternoon. While South Carolina did not make the ranking, there was some consideration. The Gamecocks received 15 votes, the 10th most for teams outside of the Top 25. In other words, the Gamecocks enter the season as the nation’s No. 35 ranked team.'
the 35th team is UNRANKED, just as stated in the second sentence... but of course, the spin at the end is what cooters will remember because truth is only relevant to their desire to be great...

Coots got votes so they could move into the top 25 after week 2 IF they beat UNC...This will give Bama a top 25 win in week 3.
No other reason.

Florida only has 24 combined starts returning on the O-line. That ranks last in the nation.

In an attempt to show the weakness of the ACC when the top 25 has been the standard ranking for the last 30 years?

I think Syracuse is too far down, and leaving a UVA team out that is picked to win their side of the conference is disrespecting the ACC. UVA destroyed the coots in their bowl game last year. Were the coots worn out after losing to us? Once again the SEC gets all of the love.

Poll Problems

Notre Dame should be higher (and I hate Notre Dame) Texas A&M should be lower- they lost six games last year for God’s sake Syracuse should be in the top 20 - bias Appalachian state should be in the top 25 How could anybody with a brain vote South Carolina ranked? - Six and seven team last year who lost their best player and has arguably the toughest schedule in the country?

Awesome - thanks for the post! If there's one thing I have a passion for (uh, other than scotch, womenz and Italian food (I'm talking about consumables... and not necessarily in that order)), it's fresh baked bread. I'll be making some of this next Thu afternoon to share with a few friends!
Go Tigers!!!
