Dating in the modern age is wild.

Not the dating apps and what not, but just having an instantly accessible paper trail of your entire courtship. It's the digital equivalent of saving the movie stub of your first date.
Yesterday on Facebook I got a "Memory" collection that included posts about going down to Sullivan's Island for St. Paddy's Day. They were exactly what you would expect of a young single man; basically odes to Guinness he was about to drink.
That was the day I met my wife.
Technically, it was the third time. She didn't remember me from the first two times we met. (The first was a small-ish bonfire crowd at a friend's house — not a lot of room for "we probably just didn't run into each other.") Except, this time I was going to remember her. She stuck.
Then, a few days later, I have a text-exchange to a close mutual friend of ours that I was going to ask her out. "She's gonna say no," my friend said. Then I also have the chat after the date.
Quick aside: I also have a conversation with this same friend the night she was out somewhere in Charleston and this "young Citadel guy" started flirting with her. I told her to go for it. They're married now.

But that's just that. We have documented in some, way, shape, or form (mostly Facebook, given our age) every stage of our relationship. I'm not active on Facebook now. Just on there with mostly family in my friends feed. But dammit do I appreciate being so active on there before.
And, if Meta's ad network can send me hyperspecific suggestions for Valentine's Day gifts, I'm all the better for it.

We texted for a few days and then had a date. Got a nice good night kiss. Then date two we went to a steak house and had a great time (we still go and sit at the same table), then 3rd date Bacon Brothers (RIP) and she paid bc I paid the first two.
Married about 4 months later and it’s been over three years now. Sure did we get in some arguments this week in Orlando… yes… That will happen w 5 kids in tow. But we love eathother.

I didnt even go on dates with women that were not. 1. Beautiful, 2. Sexy 3. Smart 4. Great Job 5. Not crazy. Of course most had kids and I needed one w kids bc I have the snip snip.
She checked all the boxes and much more, so it wasn’t a tough decision.
She showed up for a Netflix and chill one night at my house in just a trench coat type thing, ended up being nothing under it. I knew then she was the one.

Like I've mentioned on here before, I'm still waiting to find that one who I think to myself "you know, I'd like to have her in my house even if the end goal wasn't for her to blow me."
On the one hand, I truly am probably ready to just settle down. On the other hand, pickings are slim and/or I'm attracting a certain type of girl who, frankly, I just wannafuck.
Maybe I'm emotionally stunted and not capable of having a real relationship with a human beind? Maybe I'm just in it for the offcentered buttwhoals. Who knows.

Don’t even talk to the ones that after a day of texting you know they are crazy but down to F. Go out w only the ones that are marriage material. You still may go through a lot of them and still get to F them. But in the end you find the one.

help you figure out A LOT about people fairly quickly.
I mean, if they tell you about their 9 cats within a few days they make this work a lot easier.
In some cases it may take 20 yrs for the cray to manifest.
It's all a crap shoot really.

All I know is if I had to date again at this point in life I’d be completely F’ed. I’ve been with the same girl since I was 16, this month marks 21 years together and 14 married. Before iPhones and dating apps and instagram and all that, and I’m not going to say it was an arranged marriage, but it wasn’t entirely not arranged.

I would be so lost if I had to do it all over again. She would be fine but I would die alone.

she has more options now that she takes Ozempic and has lost a ton of weight. She's no longer a bowling ball with legs, but ozempic doesn't shrink the size of that head.
The amount of young guys.. like early 20's trying to get with her (she's mid 40's) is insane. It's literally all really young guys who could be her son or really old guys who could be her dad.
I hate it for her because even though she's a massive ### hole, she didn't choose the single life. But living vicariously through her and assuming it's even worse as a male trying to find a woman, even on the bad days, I'm good with what I got.

I saw a screenshot last night where a guy texted a girl after what seemed to be a good first date, basically saying he had a good time but he didn't think they were compatible and wanted to break things off. The girl texted back something like, "Oh I thought it went well. But okay that's fine." And then the dude went off on here because she refused to offer feedback on him.
Far from the only incident of similar mental fragility I've seen.
That, and they are absolutely petrified of women their age who have it together and, gasp, may be more successful than them in this stage of life.

First date, dinner and beers. Dang she could drink.
Second date we went ziplining, but she wasn't wearing a belt. During the final rappel to the ground, the harness pulled down her pants and underwear showing her butt to all.

i like the alone time and not having to worry about someone else. i have a couple “friends” and one wants to spend more time together and travel some. just not into it.
figure it this way - i’m now mid to late 50’s and decided i don’t want to be with women in their 50’s. it’s too much and they act too old. dating is overrated. when i meet her i’ll know.
