I know you’re no longer allowed to say anything other than football players should have a voice on anything they care deeply about and we should all respect that.
However color me insensitive. I want to know your name not your political view, favorite ice cream, or favorite liquor drink. If you feel the need to tell me any of that just put it under your number so I know your name and don’t have to go memorize every players number.

If these players cared, they’d switch parties. They vote the same party every election cycle and get the same results.
They’re sheep and uninformed. They ignore data and facts and lead with their feelings and emotions.

You missed the point. I’m trying to see the name of the player who made the play and nothing else. A football game in college is kind of an interview for a job playing football. Would you write your resume with “Love” or “Peace” at the top...no you have hour name there so they know who you are.

All putting a message out there like that does is distract from the actual sport that's happening.

I found it a little confusing at first. I grew up with people with the last names Peace, Justice, and Love and I thought I would have remembered if we had players with those names. Once I saw Equality and Unity and Enough, I knew I had to retrain myself to look at the roster on my phone if I didn't already know that number.

It's complete nonsense. Doesn't belong. Needs to stop now. If I expressed my personal views on my job, I'd be fired. Athletes are nothing more than entertainers. Just freaking play. Express your politic on your own time. Coaches probably hate it but blindly follow due to pressure.

I agree that Dabo has to hate it, as much as he’s against doing anything with jerseys not hard to figure out what he’d say in a private conversation. Clearly there aren’t many options for anyone against the politicize everything movement.

UVA seemed to be far more focused on football than Clemson. Perhaps CU players were more concerned with statements on their jerseys than preparing for a quality opponent? Anyway, I miss the days when sports were a welcome distraction from current events.

Could not agree more that the names were nonsense. We played like the names on the back. UVA had more first downs, more rushing yards and almost the same passing yards. Also, far fewer penalties. We had some spectacular plays that saved our butts. This is the first time I could say that Dabo has made a mistake in letting the inmates run the asylum. Football is too tough a game to be played while distracted by which name am I going to put on my jersey. We had better wake up before its too late.

admittedly, I paid zero attention in the off season because I didn’t believe anyone would actually be playing football
I heard a play call for a guy named Frank something and would have loved to see his last name on the replay

I agree or at minimum a DISTRACTION. Never heard any football coach say bringing additional social baggage to the forefront helps the performance of a football team on game day. Let’s refocus and not have to talk about this at the end of the season.

be futile and counterproductive. Dabo is walking a tightrope trying to manage the program through tricky times in a way that will be fair to the young men (and their parents) who have put their trust in him for 3-5 years while acheiving the goals of a successful, winning football program demanded by the university and it's supporters.
