Ok - here is a snapshot at the moment Cade is "reading" the defense. I understand that he was told to hand the ball off regardless BUT is this the right read for pulling? Doesn't look like it to me...

However, notice where our center and the rest of the OL is located in this picture compared to the LOS. The OL got zero push and were already on their heals backing up from the 6" line to the 2 yard line - the Miami DL is pushing our OL into our own backfield. Even if Cade had given the ball to Shipley I doubt he makes it. I wish our OL failing to get a push to make one yard was an "off" night for us but this has been the character of our OL for way too long....




PS... I'm not posting this to bash Cade - it was a whole coaching/team effort in screwing the pooch last night and not just one decision by Cade...

There was no hole for Shipley as the Miami DL has already pushed our OL back to almost the handoff point. Marcus Tate (74) is already on the ground creating yet even more clutter in the "non-hole". Ship's only chance would have been to bounce it outside to the right and even that would have been suspect with the way our whole OL was getting pushed back.

Miami never shifted for it. Thats why the TE has no one to block initially. He does a good job picking up the first thing that shows. Shipley would have walked in if Klubeneck wouldnt have brain-farted
