Remember that Dabo "falls in love with loyality" (can you say, Kyle Parker).Cole was a backup for a reason, so when we are 4-8 in 2014 due to our "average" signal caller you may not like this decision! Hopefully, Watson will recover quickly. Kelly was a "brash" kid who needed to be managed, not kicked off the team.

I like this move. Too much drama around this already... by naming Cole, Dabo moves the team past this and the Chad Kelly drama instead of it being talked about all summer.
Good move.

For three years we have enjoyed a fully capable backup and at times I think that made Tajh play harder unafraid of injury. Cole is more than ready and I think he'll have a electrifying year as long as receivers catch whats thrown to them. Watson will be ready for his time and may already be an ace in the hole. Chad wanted it too bad he forced things but on and off the field. Can't blame him for being over-competitive but he could be a distraction. Cole has been a steady reliable player. Nick Shuessler is feeling like a million bucks right about now. Kid looked very smooth in the spring game and could be the back up by time for Uga . Watson staying in the red shirt isn't totally out of the question in my mind .

any way against UGAy. IMO he earned it last year, and it was his to lose. Kelly never had the moxy to be the starter here. He lacked the leadership trait needed to be the starter. The kid had skills and that is not the question he the lacked the ability to be a leader. I thought Cole was more accurate than Tahj last year but Tahj had the ability to lead the team. I think Cole has earned the respect of his team mates and they will allow him to be the leader. Cole will have an unbelievably great season and I think Watson will learn how to be a leader like Cole learned from Tahj. Watson will see a lot of meaningful snaps this year and it will only help him. In every bad situation we have to find a gleam of hope and I hope that Chad will grow from this and go on to do great things.

Congratulations to Cole Stoudt!!!! He did a great job as the backup quarterback last year and he has earned the right to lead the team this year. I wish him the best. I am sure that Deshaun Watson will be a fine backup and will be ready to assume the leadership role whenever he is needed. Best of luck to both Cole and Deshaun.
