vehicle question for the morning crowd:

selling my expedition today and got 2 things different cars that i'm thinking about buying
both are in excellent shape, 4x4, decent miles, and both are black. they both are GREAT PRICES
so, which one yall think...
2006 Hummer h3, naviagation, leather, sunroof, etc. (btw, the hummer gets close to 20 mpg because its a 5 cyl)
or
2005 Supercrew f150 lariat, leather, sunroof, etc.

I think Hummer might be hard to get parts for later or more expensive plus not keen on 5 cylinder

There is much more utility with a truck. I own a Jeep Grand Cherokee now and love it but I can't wait to trade it in for a new truck as soon as I can afford it.

several things...
Jan 14, 2013, 11:12 AM
|
|
the size: on the inside it's like a car or a mid-size truck. Also, the windows are very narrow and make your view very limited all around, including the front windshield (I break my neck to try to look up at a stop light).
You probably will not get 20 mpg, but it'll still be a little better than the truck.
It is not a truck, so you won't have the luxury of the truck bed to haul stuff.
There are some good things though: Heated leather seats, XM radio, and women seem to like it. It gets that, "Oh, you have a Hummer?!" effect.
The main reason is because of the size. To me, because I'm a taller person, it just doesn't fit me.

Had a h3 too. Traded for a sequoia and have not missed it. H3 was too small and had huge blind spots. 5 cyl was under powered. Plus side was could turn on a dime, park in small space and was cool.

F-150 by far. Hummer not being made anymore

Love my F-150 my first truck will never go back to anything else. I have FX4 with Luxury package. Very similar to Lariat just different color on bumpers and insides and a little different on the 4x4 package i think

The last (and I mean last) fords I bought were the poorest vehicles I ever owned. I can't advise you because I don't know of a single vehicle made in the good ole usofa I would have. Impossible to buy a foreign made truck anymore. Remember that gmc has cut a deal with communist china so I would be reluctant to buy a chevy etc.

Have been really happy with the last two we've bought in the last three years. It's a night and day difference in quality from the early 2000's to 2010'ish and up.

lil' Beegshot (oxymoron?) just turned 18 and wants a F150 Supercrew.
I'm sure we'll end up in a '02 or possible an '03.
Are you getting the '05 for less than $16K?

Re: F150...hummer is a chic car. I've had many trucks..

But all mine are big diesels..hence the name heavydutytiger..in any case the Ford is a great truck all the way around. All I buy are Super duty's. have had Dodge..great motor(Cummins) but truck falls apart around motor. Bought brand new Chevy 2500 in 2010 with Duramax..did t even keep it a year and sold it. Just cannot beat Ford trucks whether 150's 250's or whatever
