Eyes say we're an NCAAT team, but the computers do not

If we don't beat UVA, we'll see if the selection committee actually watches games or if they rely more on the computers. I think anyone that has watched us all year can clearly see that there are not 68 teams better than us this year. However, the thing that has plagued us all year is our propensity to lay an egg vs bad teams. We have arguably 3 of the worst possible losses any team can have considering we loss to SCAR, a 4 win Louisville team, and got blown out by a Loyola team that finished dead last in the Atlantic 10. Maybe one of these would've been forgivable. Possibly two, but I'm not sure if you deserve any grace for three.
We've got to beat UVA to seal the deal. To be honest I don't necessarily think we deserve the benefit of the doubt if we don't.

You know you're right. Nc state should make it in over us.

Right. Losing to These bottom feeders is unpardonable. You know the Tigers had to chomping at the bits when they ran out on the court to play Loyola knowing they would be in for a fight! Actually games like that do help you develop as a team because you see how prepared you must be EVERY game. It happens every year to almost every team.
I think the “experts” also forget that the Tigers played several games this year without some very key players in the lineup. You don’t take a Hall off the court and not miss his loss. And there was others too.
WIN TONIGHT AND PUNCH THAT TICKET. WIN THE NEXT ONE AND YOU BECOME A FRONT PAGE TEAM.

I’ve always thought they pass the eye test. Funny that no pundits

really use that term in basketball.
Of the three losses, Loyola is the most egregious. No excuse for that one. Be like the football team losing to Troy or something. The Louisville loss is the next one. Their record is so awful. They have athletes and they put it together on that night. But still no excuse to lose that one.
But to your point, if the committee has watched this team no way they don’t get in. Those road wins are big. That win against Pitt was special.
Even if they lose to UVA, they deserve to be in imo. No way 68 other teams are better than them.

Not to be sarcastic, he said sarcastically, "NC State is obviously a better NCAA tournament team!" "Not!!" To me, when our bigs are playing well, we could be a Sweet 16 team! We have the hustle, depth, etc. Hopefully, the committee actually watches games, particularly down the stretch, and does not depend on a year-long computer ranking.

I think we deserve to be in, but wanted to point out that people always say "68 teams that are better" as if the NCAA tournament selects the top 68 ranked teams. There are 32 automatic qualifiers with all of the conferences which obviously includes teams that wouldn't be considered as a top 68 team. It's more about being one of the top 30 or 40 teams. I certainly think we're one of the best 30 or 40 teams, but just wanted to point out that differences.

I can't exactly agree with your reasoning there at the end .

that was a good post, but that last bit - that we don't deserve the benefit of the doubt if we loose - I would disagree with the premise of that. The benefit of the doubt only applies when there is doubt - i.e. close cases, judgment calls, etc. Where there is not doubt, the benefit of it doesn't come into play. If there are clearly not 68 teams better than us, then there is no doubt, and there's nothing left to prove.
