National Perception, would it be the same if...

If nothing else changed, except the name of the Teams that are currently ranked?
What if Miami was 7-1 like Wake? What if FSU was 6-1 like Syracuse? What would the morons in media say then?
I think everyone else outside the conference as "down" when it's not our traditional old powers with the best teams/records. I think when most people see FSU & Miami as down, they think the whole conference is weak. Nevermind the fact Wake and Syracuse would be the 3rd best team in most conferences right now.
Me, I don't really care about waving a conference flag, but I do think it would hush the talking heads if FSU and Miami got back to winning 10, 11 games a year.
Again, I don't really care as long as we win out, but I often wonder what the excuses will be in the special year that Clemson, FSU, Miami and either UNC or VT all win 10+ games in the same season.

It would be hard for said talking heads to spin the ACC narrative of cupcake vs cupcake and simultaneously saying that SEC teams face a grueling conference schedule

I don’t think so…I really don’t think what number any team has next to their name…The ACC has this stigma that football is inept…If we had beaten the pi$$ out of wake, nc st, or cuse, the nArrative would be they are overrated..since they played us well, the narrative is we aren’t that good because of style points and are ranked 5th. Clemson is ###### if they and ###### if they don’t.
I’ve never been on board with that sort of theory from the pundits and fans, but this year it is blatantly obvious. I know the rankings don’t matter at the moment but we are better than Michigan and have a 100x better resume. It’s a crock of sh*t..
I remember coming off our natty vs Alabama in San Fran…we were ranked #1 and struggled mightily vs UNC but won..they dropped our ### to #5 so quick…but UGA barely gets by Mizzou and drops to 2…

You actually dropped to 2 in the polls after that UNC game in 2019, not 5:

First off, Miami and Florida State are not traditional ACC schools. I will reserve comment about other ACC teams the season is over and the Bowl games are played. Syracuse, Wake, NC State and Carolina have a chance to be ranked come December but to say any of those teams could be 3rd in BIG10 East is just off the deep end.

Yes except the SEC has been #1 in marketing from 2012. Even when the SEC was average they promoted themselves and steered the media into the same. Big names would help but the ACC is 10 years behind in messaging.
