yes, I was about to post this. would be a great last pick up!
Kind of similar to Godfrey. He could play the 4 or the 3 position. He had real good games in a good conference the MVC against two really good teams Indiana State and Drake.
Here are highlights of season:

Also could play the 5 in a small line up on occasion. A real good shot blocker from what video shows.

He has 7'3" wingspan so yes could play the 5 some.
First 3 years played at Monmouth. Liked the fact get a visit after his Notre Dame visit.

Thanks for posting the highlights. Strong defender, good passer and a bull down low. IMHO would be a great addition

Watched two of his best game highlights vs ranked Kentucky and Indiana State. He reminds of Trevor Booker minus the explosive leaping ability. A solid 6-7 235 lbs with 7'3" wingspan.
Can definitelly play center some. Went head to head vs Indiana State hearalded best player bigman Avilia aka Milk Chamberlin and by far out played him. He would be a bigtime get...

not so sure would not start. Not sure Lakhin would win starting spot over him especially if he keeps getting injured. Foster has more girth and longer wingspan than Godfrey. If anything would get 20+ minutes at the 4 or 5 spot. You can watch full replay games at Kentucky and at Indiana State on youtube. He went head to head vs top center for State Avilia aka Milk Chamberlin and dominated that match up in a win with 19 pts and 13 rebs. He could want to play his last eligible season for a winning team more than just be a sure starter. His teams at Illinois State and Monmouth were pretty mediocre.

Same type of player. At C he's undersized, just like Godfrey would have been. He's a traditional type 4, not a stretch 4. And we now javelin 2 true C

Is he getting minutes over Wiggins?
May 13, 2024, 11:48 AM
|

Or the 2 redshirts who both can shoot and are likely to get minutes there along with our highest rated freshman since PJ? We're going to need shooting from 3 with Girard gone and 2 traditional C instead of PJ.
I hope he comes, and he'd be a good fit behind Sheff. But will he accept that role?

Yep. Wondering the same thing. He’s probably backing up Shef. He’s likely not starting over Wiggins. Not sure where he starts. And if he does start, why’d Godfrey leave? I thought we might go after another scorer like a wing/SG.

that's the biggest need unless Chase doesn't return. We have only 3 guys right now 6'8 or better and over 200 lbs. Need a 4th.

6-7 235 lbs with a 7'3" reach is pretty much another 6-8 or taller guy.
Trust me, watched both the Kentucky game and at Indiana State games on youtube and Foster plays bigger than his size. Think Trevor Booker without the explosive hops.

I'm not arguing how good he is

I'm saying why would someone as good as he is come to play backup minutes?
We have 2 seven footers who will be manning the low post, and Wiggins, Thomas and the 2 redshirts on the wing, and Thomas has to play for us to keep him.
That basically leaves time behind Sheff, which will be limited. If he comes here, hallelujah! I just don't think it's likely. I hope I'm wrong.

He’s strictly going to play the 4 and backup schieff… He’s not taking away any minutes from the 3 position. We have Wiggins and Asa/Dallas Thomas both there AND Heiderbreder can play a 3 in a small lineup if needed at 6’5’’

Perhaps but he is visiting even though I am confident he is aware of the depth chart. As NCTigs pointed out, perhaps 20 minutes a game on a team with sweet 16 or elite eight potential is enough to get his attention.

I just question whether he wants to be behind a guy like Sheff who will get the bulk of the minutes. We'll get a backup for Sheff, just not sure it will be a guy like this, willing to come in strictly as a bench player barring an injury. I see someone more along the lines of Beyte backing up PJ last year. Hope I'm wrong

Do the math:
He gets 10 mins at the 4 spot
And gets 6 mins at the 5 spot in a small lineup
And gets 5 mins at the 3 spot in a real big lineup...
that adds up to 21 mins.
It will work itself out...

2 seven footers at C and 4 guys as of now competing for minutes at 3, unless you think Thomas will redshirt and then hang around, and that ain't happening. If we want to keep Thomas, he has to get minutes, lest you don't remember the guy you cried endlessly about who didn't get minutes and transfered to Marquette

To put out the energy and effort he does takes a lot out of his body. He got into foul trouble and production seemed to suffer late in Tourney games. Would welcome “2 starters” at the power forward position.

Yeah, his ~15 ppg average in the NCAA tourney paled in comparison to his ~10 ppg average in the regular season. If anything, his later performances were better. That being said, I'm all about picking up a decent BU player.
Averaged about the same pf's per game in fouls in the tourney as well. (2.7 vs 2.6)
Chef was solid and only improved over the course of the year. His improvement over the years has been impressive. Glad to see we are putting quality players around him for next year.

We def added the size we desperately needed after getting crushed on the boards so much. Hopefully we'll still have some shooters, I like our chances if Chase goes undrafted and decides to return one more year.

One last thing about potentially starting.
Clemson was really in a battle to get Orchad Omier from Miami and finished in his final 4 before deciding on Baylor.
You are going to tell me that Omier who started at the 5 position at Miami at only 6-7 but 240 lbs wasn't going to start at Clemson next to Shef and Wiggins?
Foster might have been the back up plan to do that or at least battle Lakhin for that spot. He is similar to Omier just not as overall talented.
Competetion is good and is a good problem to have.

And not because of Omier. he was 2nd Team all-acc this past season, and on the first team all-Acc last season as the starter at the 5 on the Final 4 team.
They sucked this past season because all the injuries at the guard position.
