This unit or that unit as been made so much better by x number of transfers.
They just said that the UNC line is miles ahead of last year because of two key transfers, one a center from Miami coincidentally.
Clemson roster has been grossly mismanaged on offense especially.

Developing players takes time. Getting experienced players from the portal allows coaches to skip the developing. Instant presto, units and teams are much better.

I don't see anything of those things happening on our offensive side of the ball at least. I wonder if having a staff full of rookies has anything to do with it?

But being a developmental program and using the portal are not mutually exclusive. I think most of us would like to see 1 or 2 players a year come in at key positions. Before someone tells me we have not had the space the last few years, that is primarily because we have not been managing the roster to bring in transfers. Not having the scholarships to hand out to transfers is not by accident.

To say we need transfers. Just throw it out there and other mindless internet warriors chime in. Having teams with continuity and consistency requires more nuance than just saying we need transfers. The horse is dead. And so are the brains of people that want to keep beating it.

Looks like you’ve missed it. Our O-Line is playing the best since the end of the 2019 season.
And they are getting better each game. Keep watching and it will become even more obvious with each coming game.

But the point was using the portal to upgrade underperforming units. UNC had a crap line last year and got 2 OL. At least they tried, and oh yeah, their offense is ranked 9th.
3 years and we can't figure out our offense.

It was an example of how the portal allowed them to significantly improve a weak position group on their team.
The implication is that we could’ve done the same thing to improve weak position groups on our team. We do have some.

Your comment in your OP was regarding O-line. I provided two metrics commonly used to help assess the effectiveness of an o-line that seem to indicate we have the edge there. Instead of providing stats that support their
O Line is better, you switch arguments to who has the best total offense rank. Since you didn’t provide stats, have you ever coached Oline before? If I’m to just believe their line is better without stats, I’ll need to know your credentials.

UNC has the #1 pick in next year’s NFL draft if D.Maye decides to go pro. He’s a better pro prospect than Caleb Williams.
That is why UNC’s offense is so good … except when their portal rich OL couldn’t block a feather.

You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing in order to have success. In fact, I’d say the opposite is typically true.
“Portal” is simply the buzz word right now. That’s why casual fans use it. They really don’t know what they are saying when they use it, but it doesn’t stop them. Using UNC’s oline as an example of of a line we should emulate is silly. Why are we not using Colorado or USC as an example right now?
Just like Wes was easy to blame before by people who had no idea what they were looking at.

Maybe it is a lack of portal use, But I suspect offensive woes run much deeper. DJ is a new QB at Oregon St. A not so good VT put up 30 on wake today. The Hokies had no problems getting those short yards in obvious run downs. This Tiger team couldn’t and hasn’t all year. Players are only as good as they’re coached.

CK2 had a dreadful game against WF.
This not to say that CK2 is a lost cause. Far from it.
If CK2 plays better, then we win the next two games handily.
If he starts in WF - The Sequel and in WF - III, then we will be lucky to win either of those road games.

Our coaches are the best. They are just victims of bad luck and corrupt NIL, and won’t stoop to the level of taking bad apples from the portal.
This, plus the huge anti-Clemson bias out there, makes it nearly impossible for our staff to make us a playoff team.
