You get up to speed and clench up good and tight wondering if they'll throw a tread and send you into the wall at 80 MPH.

Feels the same way seeing this Clemson basketball team hit speeds it has rarely (if ever) hit before.

Like Yeager "chasing that demon out there at mach 2" ... you just gnaw on a stick of Beemans and hope the thing will hold up to the stress.

Go Tigers. Pass the Beemans.

Ahh, yes. My dad bought me some of those (obviously pre-driven) when I was a teen. He also threatened me with getting me a Rolls-Canhardly vehicle.

I've driven around many a day with those old $20 recaps, when I was a lot younger. I couldn't afford any of those fancy new tires.

Makes me think of Burt Munro running 200 mph at Bonneville on motorcycle. Put shoe polish on his maypops to hide cracks from inspection team.
