ESPN scouting report on Clemson QB commit

ESPN did a 2025 class of QBs outlook, which included a scouting report on Clemson pledge Blake Hebert:
Strengths: With his build, he doesn't necessarily look like a dual threat, but he is. Hebert possesses terrific mobility, pocket quickness and is dangerous if he leaves the pocket. He has a strong arm and can drive the ball vertically and attack all areas of the field with his arm.
Areas of improvement: Playing in Greenwich, Connecticut, Hebert does not face top competition like his peers. That's not something he can help. He's very consistent in his methods, but needs to loosen up a bit and make more improvised plays in the passing game.
How he fits at Clemson: Hebert is like a bigger, stronger-armed version of TCU's Max Duggan. Clemson offensive coordinator Garrett Riley coached Duggan at TCU and will know exactly what to do with Hebert. He has very attractive physical attributes for a spread scheme that wants the quarterback to always be a running threat.

Does not mention accuracy, hope he is

Love all the attributes, but the missing piece of the current puzzle is consistent accuracy. That's Cade's biggest concern. Strong arm, mobile, big, strong...great. Is he accurate with the ball? That will be the biggest determinant of his success and the offense's success with him. It's also the thing holding Cade and the current offense back.

I might miss my guess but I believe he will be the surprise QB since TL. Not to say he will be as good as Lawrence but I think he will be the steady force needed and will not be someone to lose a game. May very well be the field general needed to command the offense. Time will tell.

Cutter Woods is better than anyone on the Clemson roster, Hebert isn’t playing competition like Woods either. I wished Dabo would offer that kid. Best QB I have seen play in High School in a while, especially in this state. I guess the coots finally wised up and offered. I guess when Klubnik gets benched and transfers, Dabo might make an offer.

Hmm…it almost sounds like our OC recruited him because he’s a good fit for the offense he wants to run going forward…
That can’t be though..

I'd say he goes against similar competition to what Chad Kelly did

when he played in the suburbs of Buffalo, and I don't think Chad Morris evaluated him wrongly in his actual athletic and QB ability. Might have missed on the character red flags though. LOL
I think he is a lot like Kelly athletically from what I've watched.

I think Hebert is a more polished version of Vizzina. He has the mechanics down better but imo I don't see him hitting guys on timing routes like Deep outs, Corners, and skinny posts. That might very well be just how the offense is at his high-school. I'm very wary when I see guys highlights and it's all streaks, DJ was a prime example of this. If the highlights are all streaks only thing it really tells me is that the kid has an arm and his wrs are faster than everyone else on the field.

For every QB1 recruiting hit (Watson, Lawrence) there will be a miss (DJU/Hunter Johnson/Cade?). QB is the most difficult position to play in all of sports, it's not even close. Not only do you have to have the prerequisite athletic skills, more importantly, you have to be able to process a lot of information incredibly quickly.
It is imperative for us to have a true QB1 competition every fall. There has to be at least two individuals that have the skill set and time in system to lead the team in the event of poor performance or injury. We didn't have a viable candidate to challenge DJ and now it is the same for Cade.
For every position there should be someone pushing the other to get better.

I’m not attacking bc I see the question mark next to Cade , I’m only replying just bc iv seen it posted a good bit from others about Cade in that same breath as dj, hunter, etc… and I just think imo it’s not fair at all to bunch him even with those guys until after this year. He def has the tools you can see it and him not playing at all his freshman year I believe just stunted alot of those growing pains if you will until last year. If he shows no improvement this year sure , but he’s also very capable and wouldn’t be that surprising to me , if he came out and had a great year this year and came back and was a first rounder his Sr year… he’s got that type of potential and anyone that says he doesn’t hasn’t watched some of the throws he makes. Consistent? No not yet but if he’s able to use his legs and break some of those Jersey tackles and is stronger , it opens up a lot more of his game … which iv always said I think he’s better rolling out or making throws on the run.

Hart is gone
But I’m with you, I’m not as giddy about Blake….. Hope I’m dead wrong. Hope Rileys thought that he is a better Duggin (TCU) is spot on
Raw, Plays against inferior talent, missed his entire junior season. Missing your entire junior season creates a huge gap in development when you already play against inferior competition. Eagerly anticipating his senior season
