GITT and tell the places that you lived at CU:

1. 75-76 and 76-77 A-8 Johnstone. Met some life-long friends, was turned on to a lot of knowledge a small town boy didn't have. Learned about more new music than you can shake a stick at. Turned on to Little Feat, Early Springsteen, Southside Johnny, the Dead, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison...First ever waking and baking on a Sunday while we made omelets in the break room.
2. 77-78 Lakeview Apts. right on the lake and right behind Pixie and Bills. Roomed with 3 musicians, one being fluffhead's FIL. Was exposed to jazz for the first time, Stanley Clarke, Oscar Peterson, the Crusaders, Ron Carter, Chick Correa, Herbie Hancock...Plus George Clinton and Funkadelic. Didn't have a car, had great bike. Broke my ankle playing hoops, then had to hitch hike everywhere. Fluff's FIL and I worked for Allied Movers in Greenville that summer.
3. 78-79 Village Green Apts. behind Library Club, Lamars, and KFC. Had a pool and remember a lot of pool parties. Great year for football. Won the ACC, 11-1, beat Ohio State in Gator. Lost to Dawgs though. Worked at Harcombe.
4. Fall 79 lived in a brick apt. building right behind TTT's dumpster. Got laid more because of location. Roomed with Edgefield homey who I had roomed with in 76-77 in Johnstone. He took every other year off to work for Strom in D.C. We were drinking moonshine one Friday night before UGA game the next day, had boys in from Edgefield, and broke up what little furniture we had and one window.

Clemson was $1500 a semester. For that I got the same quality coed action for 5 straight months that a Russian Oligarch might pay $1500 for a single night.

We had a pretty poor reputation in those days and we all knew the housing staff intimately. I'm surprised they didn't call us back when they decided to demolish Johnstone.

Bruh, lemme tell you……
Nov 18, 2021, 10:39 AM
|
|
I propped a 40 gallon trash can of full water against the elevator door so it fell in when it opened. The unsuspecting elevator rider was Emory Smith himself.
I plunked a BB right off the top of Nelson Welch’s dome when he was throwing water balloons at our window.
I knocked the doorknob off the outside of Marcus Hinton’s door with a 3 pound hammer when he was in the shower because he’d shot shaving cream under our door.
Also, less exciting, I gave Louis Solomon a ride to Greenville once.
I wouldn’t trade those days for nuthin.

Ha! Nothing that bad. I punched my roommate in the mouth at Calhoun, so I had to leave. A buddy of mine was living in Seneca and had some extra space. Then my car broke down and I was biking to class from Seneca. It was a rough year.

2003-2004: Geer Shoebox. Best memories there were fishing for squirrels out of the third floor window, and finding a rolling chair by the dumpster and starting some chair-racing competitions down the hill to the stadium.
2004-2005: Stadium Suites. Room overlooked the stadium. Also the ledge of the window was great for a George Forman.
2005-2007: The Reserve. Best story there was a party hosted by some friends, but during a period where I wasn't drinking and used apple juice in this ridiculous plastic chalice as a substitute. Cops broke it up while I was outside in the stairwell. As one was walking up the stairs, I looked him dead in the eyes and took a swig. "What's in cup?" "Applejuice." "[Very long pause]. Okay."

Problem is that my cousin didn't go to Clemson, he was a Marine that just happened to live in Clemson.
Got retardo-drunk, slept in the woods by myself, and accidentally downloaded a video of a man having his head sawed off on Limewire. Great weekend.

Sounds about right, my list is pretty much the same. I didn't live in the House of Pain (well, except on the weekends) and I don't recall what 110 N Clemson Ave is/was. I also live at #8 Sunset Court (dobbers place).
99 Wyatt Co-op in Athens House on Berkeley Dr (fondly referred to as The House of Pain) Co-Op in Athens Apartment directly behind Esso that isn't there anymore and not sure it had a name Co-Op in Athens Appt at 110 N Clemson Ave - had a name back then that I can't remember Lightsey Bridge 99 Wyatt Tillman Place
Might need some help from BigDaddy on the above

Clemson something II....

we were only there for the summer.
Was the scene of me and Merv holding up a parking barrier about to break in the window of Sunshine Bicycles and steal all their bikes. I remember having this rare wave of sober sense kick in and make me put down the thing and walk away.
Wait...was it Clemson Place II?

There was a I and II. Different locations, were slightly different from each other but very similar (redundancy is redundant).

4th floor of Geer overlooking the road to stadium in the fall 2nd floor Wanamaker spring and sophomore year D Square (Dirty 30) North Clemson Ave (could hear Hardee’s drive through)
Stayed close to campus to be able to walk to class and downtown. Berkeley Place was about as fancy as it got until Hart’s Cove

was rewarded for being slack. Me and my best friend from HS totally screwed up, we didn't get our Clemson application in before the deadline. Picture a very stoned Jeff Spicoli: Dude, we forgot to apply to college! And we had. Long story short, we were both accepted but got a letter saying that male freshman housing (Johnstone) was full. But go ahead and show up for orientation, there was usually last minute openings and/or other options. Or something like that, I forget the specific wording.
So that's we did. We literally pulled into campus that August day in 1975 not knowing where we would be living, or if they'd just send us back home. Big hassle, but we were eventually given room 201 Norris Hall. We thought we'd completely screwed the pooch and gotten the chitty end of the stick. It took a few days for us to realize that we'd totally lucked up, and were living in a frat dorm, not Johnstone.
The Chi Psi fraternity had the 1st & 2nd floor of Norris, but never filled it up. The 2nd floor was always a hodgepodge of guys from the swim team, tennis team, soccer team, etc, and GDI's as we were called. Man, we had it made. The frat basically adopted us and we were invited down to all their parties. And every year they reserved a room for us, as though we were members.
Never had to live in Johnstone, 201 Norris Hall for 4 years, shared a house on Earle St for year 5.

Didn't apply in time for campus housing. Lived next door to former Miss Lake Hartwell. Moved to Lever for a year, two doors from Larry Nance and Horace Wyatt, then roommate last minute decision to co-op and I got bumped to F-4 Johnstone for a year. Then back to Lever for Senior year and a half.
