And nearly every company is doing it. I saw a report that, I believe it was Lay's, reduced the size of a bag of chips that was 14 oz down to 13 oz, or something like that, all while increasing the price by a nickel or so, and it saved them / profited them MILLIONS.

It's that way with about everything made and sold in the good ole US of A, and that is the reason Americans are hook on buying foreign products, and it's solely because of corporate American greed IMO!!!!

Yes because of greed. Does that mean you know the cost of producing mayonnaise, current costs of running business, raw materials, supply chain and logistics, etc…. Right now all companies are suffering in USA and it’s not corporate greed. Bigger problem is the majority who vote without understanding the first impact of any policy they voted for. Ignorant uneducated people is the problem.

More than that --
Dukes was invented in SC and helped win the war. It is a Southern tradition. My yankee Bride has tried to sneak the other into the house, but it lacks that "twang" of Dukes.

As I've said tugalooriver, if it ain't Duke's, it not real Mayonnaise, and nothing else I've ever tried is even a close 2nd, and like you've said, nothing else has that twang, and that makes a sammich worth having!!!

H&11 no, why ruin grits by putting sugar on them. But I do like jiffy cornbread, and my wife talks chit about it every time I ask her to fix it for me, but she won't eat it. I just never liked the old fashion corn bread baked in a cast iron skillet like she fixes for herself and her family. They seem to love it, but I've never cared for it, not even when momma baked it like my wife bakes it!!!!

When I was a kid and worked at the local Red & White grocery store we sold 50lb bags of rice. And we always had to take them out to people cars for them. When I got married my best man who also worked at the Red & White, bought a 50 lb bag of rice and put it all through our car. It was 2-3 inches deep in the floorboard and just everywhere. 3 years later when we sold the car, if you put the fan for the AC on high it would occasionally spit a piece of rice out of the vents. ??

The only time the jar size of Duke's is a problem in my house, is when there's not enough for my sammich, then I will say, you should have bought a bigger jar !!!
But I don't worry about that bc, there is always 2 or 3 48 0z jars of Duke's in the grocery closet/pantry

Try to find a half gallon of ice cream. It went from a half gallon (64oz) to 56 ounces and now most are 48 ounces. I worked in the food industry for years and we called them “cheater packs” when they started switching. Same with orange juice. The juice in a plastic milk jug is still a half gallon but most of the paper cartons are now somewhere between 56 and 60 ounces. Definitely an underhanded way to get a price increase.

still half gallon...Publix and Blue Bell. Both are very good quality also! Publix is excellent quality and generally as inexpensive as any brand, when factoring in the extra volume! They also have an excellent selection of flavors...one of the few brands that always has peach!
And to hail with Breyers...mediocre at best, and I think they are the brand that started the trend to smaller sizes!

this thread. There is only one mayonnaise. Dukes. All of that other sweet tasting crap... I wouldn't force it on my dog. Or even my neighbor's dog. How you gonna make a homegrown mater sammich without Dukes? Tell me that. Yeah, I didn't think so. If you don't like Duke's, you probably squat to pee, and your grandparents were Nazi sympathizers. I'm trying to be fair and even-handed about this.
