New arena? New name?
Mar 24, 2013, 2:52 PM

I personally would like to see a new arena and a new name no offense to James Corcoran littlejohn but the name itself is less than intimidating. I think this would give Clemson a fresh start in basketball which is exactly what is needed a shot in the arm so to say. Our basketball history is less than stellar so something new and fresh would be exciting to me to change our history and make a better future would be great I'm a firm believer in the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is just insane!

Put out an ad in the coaching world:
Come to Clemson and get a new arena named after you if you do the following:
win in Chapel Hill win an ACCT title have weekly q&a's with TNET posters
Do these things and you will immediately have your name on a new arena. You will also get a cut of profits from every home game for the rest of your life.

Your argument is insinuating that a new stadium and a new name to the stadium would yield direct, positive results for Clemson's basketball program?
Need I remind you that NC State moved from one of the most historic basketball arenas in all of college basketball in Reynolds Coliseum to the RBC (now PNC) Arena. Look at how relevant the Wolfpack have been since the move over there since 1999.
A new arena with a new name would not change mentality, it would just allow people, like you, to complain more about how unsuccessful the basketball program and continue to come up with excuses.

programs in the nation. All this new basketball arena and new baseball stadium talk, are just people looking for lame excuses and not looking at the real problem.

NC State has history oh yeah and a little thing called a National Championship that we've never even sniffed! I said personally I would like to see a new arena I never said it would guarantee success.

Personally, I have been to Littlejohn Coliseum. It is a neat little environment for a basketball game, and as I recall, a few years ago announcers and coaches agreed it may be up there with Cameron as one of the toughest places in the ACC to play in. After the renovations that Littlejohn went through, that arena is all but perfect for what Clemson can provide right now. You all have a hard time selling it out, even for huge games now. A new arena would more than likely be larger, therefore leaving more open seats.
Another concern I have about most of the complains about Littlejohn on here is that there are no student seats on the sidelines and how EVERY other school in the conference have student seats on the sidelines. UNC, yes, the University of North Carolina put their students in the same area that Clemson puts theirs, behind the basket and in the rafters. I have sat in the student sections at UNC and they are no better than that of Littlejohn.
Also, the PNC is so large that it is able to put students all along courtside. Donors dont mind sitting in the first row of actual seats on the sideline. Knowing a very large booster, and a member on the BOT at NCSU, he is very happy with allowing students those seats on the court because at the end of the day, they arent that great.

to pump massive dollars into our basketball program, I would be fine with the Food Lion Arena or some such.
We need money. It is the lifeblood of any sport.
