Paid parking in downtown Clemson

Haven’t been back since Thanksgiving and see you have to pay to park in downtown. Not to mention the new eyesore they’re building across from the eyesore where blue heron once stood. Loses its charm every time I return.

Technically they aren’t meters. Either way, there was a large flashing sign saying they were active and it was after 6. Maybe they just didn’t specify. Thanks for the heads up though. I bet if I decided to actually use them it wouldn’t have prevented me from paying. Also, maybe that’s why I didn’t get a ticket. Guess I won’t be so confident next time assuming it’s before 5.

Disappointing to see downtown changing

Info on parking that started in May: Metered parking will be enforced Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The first half-hour of parking is provided at no cost. Following this period, a fee of $0.50 will be applied for each additional half-hour, totaling $1.50 for a two-hour parking session. Payment options include credit and debit cards, cash (exact change only), and the new ParkMobile mobile app. Two hour limits still apply on street. If you are not sure you can go to a spot, enter parking zone into mobile app and it tells you if it’s free or if you have to pay. I agree the blinking street sign after 5 pm confuses things and is not needed after 5 pm.

Card companies charge a fee on every transaction, that's why you see minimum amounts to use a card at most small stores. Sounds to me like Clemson is feeding the monster.

I would support the parking fees if it brought us in a few 5 stars.

people that get the spaces stay too long and it negatively impacts business

with the 30min free cap, it's easier to now drop in and out of town or stay for a long period of time

I support this measure . the only people i feel bad for are the employees of the downtown stores - hopefully they get dedicated garage spots
