Weird you want Dabo to be like other schools but the reason for Dabo's success is that he did things his way. Clemson can't do things like the larger, richer schools as we are not like them. Fans like you who are trying to insist he do things like UGA or Ohio don't realize we are not like them so it won't brings the results you desire.

I’m glad that they don’t want him.
Most all the coaches hate the portal but for some it is the only solution.
It just seems when you go deep in the portal then you have to face the other side of the exit door with the players using the portal.
The teams lose loyalty and cohesiveness when they are a portal laden team. It would seem to breed cancer.
I think the players could accept a portal addition if it made sense, but not wholesale change.
I say all of this as the grandfather of a soccer player who entered the portal. She went from D1 to D11. This was not over playing time but personal issues. She ended up at a school who actively recruited her and will be a senior next year and thankfully very happy and content. She is their only transfer.
I think a player here and there who fits your culture will work but not wholesale change.
I think this is how Dabo sees its

My bad...I was referring to four loss seasons, not losing seasons...Dabo got roasted for four losses in a quirky season with a new OC and Newby DC...Frank did have more winning seasons than losing!

Everyone but the Dabo Jock Sniffers see that he is not competitive anymore now that there is an NIL and transfer portal. Paying players to come here doesn’t work anymore. That goes for all schools because I know for a fact all major colleges have paid players for decades.

He has and good points about the portal...mainly we have not had many openings to use it. Last year we had 87 on scholarships before the season started and had to get down to 85...other part us his loyalty to high school coaches..at the same time he can be stubborn but he did hire to 2 excellent
coaches .
