Clemson's Top Fullbacks; 100 Hole Marathon
Clemson's Best Fullbacks I started watching Clemson football in 1974 and can remember all of the great players over the last forty years. I am in the process of giving my thoughts on the greatest Tigers at every position over that 40 year span. I think it is only fair for me to comment on

best fullbacks. Died tragically at age 22 in a motorcycle accident. Chris Lancaster was a great one too; maybe one of the best blocking backs we've ever had. Speaking of blocking, don't forget Chad Diehl.
Kevin Mack, I think he was the best however. Strong as a bull, but had quick feet and a surprising burst of speed over a short distance.

Marvin Sims was one of the best fullbacks I can remember. Kevin Mack was in his mold as well and had an impressive NFL career until drugs got in the way.

He's in my Top Five without a doubt. He beat UNC at Chapel Hole during a COLD, driving rain-storm game all by himself. I was there loving every minute of it as I sat in the MIDDLE of the Rams Club seats.

Mack was one of the few fullbacks fast enough to run the outside veer from the ' I '.

Marvin Sims was an absolute beast

and Mack was too....to me, those two are tied for first, with a sizable gap between them and the rest....they were of the era where the fullback took the handoff out of the I formation about as often as the tailback did and both of them never went down on first contact....strong as an ox with great quick feet....Sims would have been a beast with the Colts if he wouldn't have shredded his knee so soon in his career. Mack was a Pro Bowler several times when he shared carries with Earnest Byner in Cleveland.
