BKB fans: Would you trade Brownell for Gottfried in 17-18?

Alabama is in about the same position within the SEC that Clemson is within ACC, so it's a decent comparison of programs...Murray State is currently a Big Dance program that has had some success, while UNC-W isn't close to that level. NC State seems to get some high level talent, but many are of marginal academics & transfer rate a bit high--a few one & dones lately. Neither coach has shown the ability to truly develop talent over their tenures.
Maybe it's kinda like the Presidential election--the lesser of 2 evils?
GOTTFRIED Murray State:---69–23 (.750)---40–12 (.769) Alabama:------210–131 (.616)--83–82 (.503) NC State:------122–83 (.598)----47–56 (.461) Total:-----------401–237 (.629)
BROWNELL UNC Wilmington: 83–40 (.675)-----52–20 (.722) Clemson:----------120–97 (.559)-----53–59 (.481) Total:--------------285–178 (.616)

I agree. Surely he can't actually be a coach

There's no reason not to have a solid basketball program at NC State regardless of what's going on down the road in Durham and Chapel Hill.

decent talent to State (plus transfers), and then watched it leave early/transfer and the last couple of years wasn't able to make up the talent discrepancy......Plus, fundamentals at State have been sorely lacking for a while
But many of us are old enough to remember when NCSt had a program as strong as unc or duke's and they enjoy pretty strong support with very strong facilities.....The wuffies SHOULD have done much better the last 20 years or so.....With the tradition of Sloan and Valvano still relatively recent memories
Is it too late for them to make up the ground they've lost to the 2 other Triangle programs??
IMO--it soon will be

this year's underachieving and anemic edition has pretty well driven them all away.

Nope. If he can't win at NCSU, sure can't at Clemson.***

That's my thought. Also would rather have a somewhat younger person who has a bit more enthusiasm and hunger for results. Gottfried has no doubt made lots of money and I would be concerned about his desire to put in the work necessary for a successful program.

I would take any coach in the nation over CBB, because...

it couldn't be worse. Why would it matter? If we never won another game it would be the same as now. It's NCAA tournament or bust every season. There is no in between.

Absolutely not. He routinely does less with more.

Brownell would be much more successful with Gottfried's talent. Heck, Brownell's been almost as successful despite much less talented.

There has always been a talent gap b/n us and the Duke's, UNC's & UVA of the conference. Now that Syracuse and Louisville has joined the conference is only going to be tougher.
We need 1 helluva recruiting staff....that can also coach well.

Please at least get records straight! You neglected Brownell's tenure at both stops before Clemson. My answer is NO I would not trade. There is to much baggage.
Go Tigers!

Can we do that? Can we actually trade Brownell for Gottfried? If the answer to both of those is no,it makes your point moot!

Gottfried may be a better recruiter than Brownell, but he certainly hasn't shown that he can coach at all, not even to Brownell's level.
