She is 18 has RA but now has other things going on not sure if it’s related or thyroid or what. She has been a trooper through all this and hopes to start Anderson in the fall. Please pray for her. Thanks!

I see many people with RA. It, like SLE, can be a very frustrating disease to diagnose and treat. There is no single test to make the diagnosis and the symptoms of affected individuals often varies greatly. That being said, the RF and anti CCP, and ESR are helpful, but can be often be + or -. ie, some with + tests never develop the clinical disease and others with - tests develop full blown RA. If she were my daughter, I would take her to Emory or Duke to see a Rheumatologist.

I've had RA since 2005 and have taken methotrexate since then and it's kept under control most of the time. Cold wet weather causes problems with inflammation, but other triggers like stress and fatigue can be managed. There will be occasional bad days, but the best part about them is that the pain, mild or intense, eventually eases up. You have to keep the perspective that it's not as constant as something like cancer and it's more treatable than osteoarthritis.

@96TGRBAND Will do for sure. Ex had part of her thyroid removed. Amazing how much the thyroid does for the body. Hopefully she can get back to being pain free in a short time!

It can render other health issues like gout & Lupus.
Correct Diet (and less sugars) are needed for the microbiome so to help the good gut bacteria grow is important plus eating more fiber & fermented foods (sauerkraut & plain sugarless yogurt).
And, Hormones play a part too~

Thank you all, saw family dr and she has a heart monitor for the next week. Also got more bloodwork done at the rheumatologist. I am grateful for your prayers. Life is hard and it’s nice to know people care. Please continue to pray that things begin trending in the right direction for her.
