I recently joined. My schedule was thrown off by having a dozen evacuees, seven dogs and two squirrels in my house. They left today and I'm back at it tomorrow.

Nope, to paraphrase Randy Moss, "Straight steel Homie!" I have dabbled in it a few times at a few of the base gyms, but not sure abut the routines. Some of them frankly seem like a couple of dudes just made up an exercise. But I will also admit I am often amazed at some of these other dudes lifting as well. Like bro, do ya really need a mirror for everything? And the primal screams because you popped 225 4 times on flat bench? I just like to go, get my swole, and leave lol

I don't really talk about it because I don't want to be that guy, but it's fun. It's more difficult than any other workout I've done but I've seen the best gains.

Crossfit is a young man/woman's exercise. It's a fad that will pass soon. I just focus on early 3-4 mile runs and lots of core training mixed in with circuit exercises using light weights. Not training for the Olympics. I'm training for life and overall well being.

^^This^^... For the older crowd with bulging discs in our back and neck with ankle and knee damage from 27 years of Army life, crossfit ain't such a good idea. If I were in my 20's again it would probably be a fun thing to do; at 50 not so much as I still want to be able to walk when I'm 60...

It seems to be a money grab for most places. You pay a ton of money and they force you into weird and crazy workouts. When you're sore the next day ugly get pumped and keep on paying in.
I'd recomend joining a 24 hour type gym for 20 bucks a month. I work a lot and am able to go when it fits my schedule.

Crossfit the inexpensive way

I've never paid for a gym membership
Bought my own bumper plates and bar
Built things from scratch instead of buying designer versions
You can do all the workouts at home and not pay for a membership
I haven't spent a penny on crossfit in 6-7 years
