Not only the fact that we lost four of the last six, but how we lost...and the lack of urgency and direction the team showed was inexcusable. Clemson is better that 29-29 and should not blow an 18-point lead by not playing sound defense coached by a defensive-minded Brownell.

He also said it would be counter-productive for anyone to actually put any pressure on him to do it - which is pathetic. I don't think he's a good coach but I've never had anything against him personally until this interview. That was some whiny crap.

I agree. Clemson needs a basketball coach that is top notch. The whole program needs an overhaul. Sure would be sad if we have the same results in 2016-2017 as in the past two years, especially in an awesome new arena. Time for a Dabo, or a Monty in basketball! Go Tigers!

recognizes change when needed. not some blind squirrel that thinks every nut is a good nut for the den. there will be no ncaa next yr with blossomgame gone. and no team should have their success based on the departure of one player. those are excuses and a loser mentality in sports. and no school sits around for 7 yrs waiting to see how it plays out. nor should they. so in essence, you're thought process means tb and jack need to be rehired because mediocrity is the name of your game

Everyone probably won't agree with DRad's decisions like everyone won't agree with election of our next leader of the free world. Regardless, he's got AT LEAST one more year. May as well hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

but based on the last six years, I'm not optimistic.
After six years I just think we have more than enough evidence to support that Brad Brownell is NOT the coach who is going to get Clemson to where we all want and expect to be and I can think of no feasible reason to postpone the inevitable one more year.

Mar 16, 2016, 5:34 PM

It seems like you were arguing with yourself. On the one hand you say you expect failure because you were used to it so you will not attend basketball games. However in the same thread you say that even though Clemson has a well-established long-term history of mediocrity and basketball you still expect them to improve. Do you not see the two are mutually exclusive?

That is hardly a fair analogy. It certainly doesn't sound supportive. Here is how supportive you sound. "Hey people, don't go watch Clemson basketball. You will wind up going home pooping blood from all the glass shards you will swallow." Clemson supporter indeed.

I put this here because of what you said about saying things publicly. It isn't a reflection on you. How many of the posters on here, who are making all of the negative comments, believe they are helping the Clemson basketball program?! For instance, do any of the guilty parties think they are making recruiting easier? At a bare minimum, maybe they should all shut the f... up and let him coach out the remainder of his contract!

Now we know where all the Brownell lovers get their delusion from, HIM! But hey, what does he have to worry about? He has the AD and his worshipping fan base singing his praises, paying him millions and enabling him to lead this program to new imaginary greatness. It's a good thing they never let the truth stand on their way...

nothing. He knows he's not going to lose his job. What's the athletic director's job security like. He sure can't take credit for the Dabo football hire. What's the athletic director done besides sign on to this contract that is horrible from Clemson's point of view.
Just a reminder: 17-14, lost two to an abysmal Georgia Tech program by blowing 13 and 18 point second half leads in the last week of the season.
And he's correct in that he has no need to worry about his job.
