DJU’s success this year at Oregon St is due to:
A. Better QB coaching B. Fewer injuries to DJU C. Weaker opponents D. An offense system better suited to his skill set E. Better receivers F. All of the above?

I wouldn’t exactly call it success. They are chugging along like we did last year. He took us to the ACC champ game. Looking at their remaining schedule I see about 3 more losses for them.

I also wouldn’t call it success.
He had some good games for us, and he also had some bad games. Inconsistent at best.
This weekend was a big success, but prior to this weekend he has been a below average QB this year.

Streeter had DJ so screwed up as his QB coach, that when the ball was snapped to him, he didn't know whether he should throw it, run with it, or sit on it hoping that a real QB coach would hatch from it, and I'm being truthfully honest!!!!

This is totally wrong. Streeter might not have been the best fit for him but his parents were going through a pretty messy divorce… to me that’s the story of his whole Clemson Experience and we hope he can get his mind right and find some success.

Streeter didn't have DJ screwed up, he was that way when he arrived...Streeter could not figure how to unscrew him... OSU is happy to take what he offers...they have no natties...conference championships or overestimated fan base with QB coaching instincts...Beavers just hang around in ponds and build dams! The last time OSU was worried about the playoffs was never! If Clemson fans were so happy with losing some weird games and the QB handing the ball off to the Nancy State LB and no playoffs then we should still have him...we would have not beaten UNC last season had DJ stayed in at QB...he playing out of his league right now!

Quite the opposite, you're on an island with that belief. If only that were the case politically this country would exponentially superior to the one plagued by the treasonous parasitical left that we live in today. Let' go Brandon and the horse he rode in on—

At Oregon State that he did here. The difference is, here he followed our best QB and teams ever, while at Oregon State he is leading their best team in about 15 years.

So far he’s had 3 games where he’s completed more than 56% of his passes.

Doesn't the definition of success really come down to wins and losses? My only comment was that a 27-7 record is a pretty good record as a starting QB in D1 football. Regardless of where you play, I wonder how many other active D1 QBs there are right now with at least 34 games under their belts and a nearly 80% win ratio. I'm guessing not many.
Again, I'm not saying he was a good fit overall for us and I'm not saying he didn't have significant challenges as a QB. I'm simply saying he clearly was not ALL of the issues we have and as a starting QB, his record is pretty good so far.
Changing QBs did not fix our issues. It simply revealed more that we are going to have to address.

The issues we are having this year are not the same issues
Oct 11, 2023, 12:21 PM

we had the previous two. If this were as science experiment we’d have too many variables between 2022 and 2023 to draw your conclusion that it was not QB play. Both the QBs and OCs changed at Clemson. We do know that DJ is having very similar numbers at OSU as he had at Clemson, better in a few categories, worse in some others, so it is looking more and more like coaching wasn't the issue. DJ has been a starter for 3 seasons, and had 3 OCs, none of which have had success getting him to meet his 5* expectations. So he's the constant there, and the OCs are the variables, and his results are about the same, below expectations.

I will just say 27-7 as a starter is a pretty good record. No matter how much blame we assign him, we now see all of our problems we’re clearly not on him.

The primary reason for the short-sighted surface...

level only appearance of a significant improvement in QB play of the mercurial, finger pointing, self entitled DJU is: the 1 post game Saturday feaux practice, photo-op of contrived shenanigans, a farce aimed at garnering sympathy for DJ-special thanks to the local & state news media for their role as special "Executive Producer" in this short fantasy/fiction piece (cloaked as local sports news) and for their bias and streadfast portrayal of DJU as a victm. National sports media has has picked up the spin shield to protect DJ from any justified negativity during his finger pointing journey and stay in Oregon, with Big Dave as a shadow consultant for an added layer of protection-

wherever they go...good or bad.
DJ was a good player at the level in which he played in high school. I don't believe that transferred over into college. I, also, don't believe he was the sole reason for our problems, but he was part and parcel of team issues. The initial problem to me was his recruitment; then, once he took over, there was a major disconnect among our team, which our staff failed to address. The fanbase got involved, and things got nasty, so to speak, made even worse by Big Dave running his mouth. (Yes, I said it, because at 76, I don't give a dammmm who hears, reads it.)
DJ is a personable young man, and he is no longer with our program. Yet, I wish him success in all his endeavors, and I think he is where he should have been all along: on the west coast in familiar territory around people who think and talk like him.

I agree with you on all of what you said. I like DJ as a person and wish him luck. Glad he is not our QB though. I will say that I apologize to Dabo and for his feelings on not starting Klubnik sooner. I think we can see that Klubnik is not the answer yet and still makes some questionable plays. DJ played too slow with decisions and Klubnik plays too fast with decisions. Still prefer Klubnik though

To me DJU's inability to get a simple screen pass to a receiver without throwing it in the dirt is representative of the problems DJU had. It's a short pass, QB *knows* where it's going, virtually no chance of QB pressure. But inexplicably, DJU couldn't manage it consistently.

I agree with you that he was a part of it but he wasn't ALL of it which seems to be what some people feel. Our issues go further and deeper than just a change of QB and I think we have seen that. This was really my point.

Nope, just saying changing QBs did not fix all of our issues which means there were other things that contributed. Not giving him a pass for his part, just saying he wasn't the entire problem.

DJ's performance thru 6 games was better here last year
Oct 10, 2023, 8:05 PM

in every category except wins. That eliminates A and D, and since the only newby from last year is Tyler Brown, with Williams largely out alongside but in a similar spot as a freshman last year, I'm going to eliminate E also.
I don't remember DJ being hurt last year so B is out.
CK is ahead of DJU in every stat this year thru 6, including wins, compared to DJ's similar 1st year starting, so DJU's 'success' this year as a premise is suspect.
This being DJ's 4th year in college now, I'm going to have go with C from your list, barring other options.
