It seems like we need to find a reliable transfer portal QB for 2022 regardless. But if Klubnik proves to be better than DJ in the spring, could DJ transfer out at that point and leave us REALLY thin at QB?

Transfer to Daisychain Community College in Goatsbreath, New Mexico? Is he going to win a Heisman there? Will they be holding an NFL draft party there???
If he can't beat out CK next season then he's in the same boat as Kelly B was. He's just not a top-tier QB at this level. Which would mean he DEFINITELY isn't an NFL QB. I'm not saying that's going to happen... but if it does, it's the same deal as when TL16 took over - WE'RE BETTER OFF.

So when Kelly Bryant left in the middle of the season, TL got hurt in the next game against Syracuse and Chase Brice came through in the 4Q to win the game.
My concern is that if DJ realizes in the spring or a couple of games in that Klubnik has taken his job, DJ may leave and we need to have reliable back up behind Klubnik.
If we have learned anything from the transfer portal situation, it is to be prepared for the worst.

I think he can transfer in the Spring and then play in the Fall. Maybe has to have a NCAA exemption but could be wrong.

My wild guess is he stays on and announces the transfer after the season.

I agree we need to bring in another qb possibly but we will have Taylor back next season.
However, I’m not sure where everyone is getting the idea DJ isn’t going to be a good qb. Yes he struggled but he had nothing going in his favor. Oline wasn’t very good, receivers couldn’t create separation consistently and if they did would drop a lot of balls.
I’m not sold on Dj but need to give him the benefit of another offseason to get everyone else on same page. Did he have the same starting wrs for more than 4 games? Maybe at the end when the freshman started playing more.

DJ progression this season was virtually nil. From the first game to the last he was making the same terrible reads and terrible throws. I wouldn't go as far as to give up on him but I wouldn't hold my breath for some "breakout" season like we were promised all this season.

To be fair, Dabo had a two loss (one while injured, one against Bama) conference champion with significantly better legs than DJ and an arguably better arm and brain too. DJ is below average in virtually all significant metrics. I wouldn't even give him the benefit of "experience" based on how inexperienced his still looked at the end of season.

I am hoping that too but I’m not sure it’s worth investing too much into that possibility. Cole always seemed like he was just a wrong fit for the Morris offense and Morris wouldn’t change to comply with his personnel. Elliott changed the offense around (and even dumbed it down) but DJ still couldn’t grasp it. There isn’t much of a game plan for an inaccurate passer and slow runner.

DJ is going to be a jr. If he gets beat out by a freshman he's definitely going to transfer. We need 1 more qb to be safe

No question if he loses his job, he transfers....
A lot of you guys orange colored glasses makes you very out of tune with reality...no one loves Clemson more than me, but logically seeing all aspects GOOD AND BAD is helpful...
You fans that never see any negative are a problem to our program.

Dabo isn't stupid. They will both play a lot and it will be sorted out in the Fall in games where they both play. One guy will separate himself possibly. DJ will be starting game 1. The only question is how much Cade will play.
