To all the fans offended by the purple heart...

I'm sorry you won't be at the game Saturday.
You plan to be there you say?! Surely not! Take a look at your IPTAY ticket. It has a Purple Heart on it. According you you, unless you won that Purple Heart, that ticket doesn't belong to you. You're not gonna be that hypocrite are you?
I waited till Friday to mention this so that you couldn't go screenprint a giant paw over it and screw it up. Trust us, after you did that to our awesome shirts, we know what we're talking about. I did you a favor.
There's always ESPN3, hope your little tirade was worth it. I'll be in DV Saturday. GO TIGERS!

Didn't know that about the tickets.

My student ticket is just the standard one they print for all games. I don't know that it was Tiger fans that where "offended" by the Purple Heart. A lot of people say that it was Coots, but I haven't seen proof of that either. I'm just annoyed with how it happened. We shouldn't coward down to a bunch of jack wagons who take things out of context. And if it really is that big of a deal, why wasn't proper permission and everything checked out BEFORE printing and selling shirts all over town. Either way, the ball was dropped. I don't see why we can't have a tshirt honoring the Purple Heart, but Northwestern can have a uniform that looks like they draped a damaged flag of theirselves?

I meant to put "fans" in quotes. It was sarcasm. No idea who started it, nor could it really verified. I'm sure there were some "fans" who let it bother them.
Clemson covered ALL bases in ensuring this was proper, but because of our rich military heritage, we just couldn't afford the bad press. Clemson did the smart thing, but it was really unfair that someone caused it to be ruined.

So if Clemson covered the bases, why change the logo?

I'm not questioning you on that being fact, I just think if we weren't doing anything "wrong" (and this is a very loosely interpretation of "wrong"), bad publicity from a Facebook page shouldn't cause us to abandon it. Northwestern got blasted by Deadspin and other popular websites because their Military Appreciation Day jerseys looked like they had blood splattered flags on them, and they kept with it. I guess the way they let a Facebook post ruin everything, and then state that the Student Gov't did this without permission hacks me off. This had been promoted by the AD website, at football games, and there were shirts being sold in every apparel store in town. We knew what we were doing, and we were in the right. Don't let fear of bad press ruin things

You are pretty close to 63,217 posts. Get it? You should do everything you can to hit that mark on next Saturday. Fitting milestone.
