The definition of racism has always been hating a person because of their race or skin color, or believing in superiority/inferiority due to race or skin color.
Now, especially in America, kids have been taught that white people are inherently racists, while black people or people of color cannot be racist, and that any behavior by white people that black people decide is offensive must be accepted as racist, no questions asked. It's not by accident, and is driven by sociopolitical ideology rather than facts, data, or common sense.
Racism is, in fact, very real, but the false assumptions above do nothing to address it or help heal and overcome the brutal effects of it's long, ugly history.
To be clear, people of color bore the brunt of it in the past. That was wrong and disproportionately unfair and led to massive, generational inequities in society. Unfortunately, we simply cannot compensate for the horrific racially motivated sins that were committed in the past. It won't fix anything and the people who were wrong aren't around to suffer the consequenses. It will be a long process, but the only path forward is not to make those same mistakes. Don't make assumptions about people or treat them any differently based on their race or color of their skin. We are all human beings with the same God-given rights. ALL races need to love their neighbors and treat each other fairly and without racial prejudice.
