Didn't make the correlation between that and the shrimp deal, so just thought this was funny.

Red Lobster closings are hitting the black community.

I guess it's self evident when you look at the waiting area for a table at a typical Red Lobster on a weekend that black folks LOVE some Red Lobster, but I didn't realize it might have some historical context. Seems that when the Darden guy opened Red Lobster in the 60's in Florida, he was one of the few restaurants that didn't segregate seating areas and also hired black employees for all positions in the restaurant.

Well, I dig that! Hate it feels like a loss, and not an opportunity. Let someone with some entrepreneur spirit come in, and flourish in their abandoned spot!

Growing up in a town where that was the "nicer" restaurant, ours had fairly busy weekends, but mostly barron in later years, so this isn't a huge surprise. That spot was actually chosen to remain... for now
