Did I get a WHATADEAL or fuqqued?

Wife went to Office Depot to get party invitations printed. They had the Nest Wifi Router and Point on-sale in the store, it was $161 versus $269 everywhere else. Unopened and I couldn't find that price anywhere else online, it even surprised the lady working there. I bought it on a whim, wanting better wifi at the house. Did I get had on some technology that is about to be replaced or is this a great deal. They had one more in Rock Hill, if'n someone else wants it.

I'm currently running 2 of the routers (not the point) with

only a wireless connection between them to cover 3ksqft. In the same room as the router I can get 500-600mbps, in the backyard it's around 100-150. I have 40 or so devices connected and haven't even had to power cycle the router since I installed it.
It's not the latest/greatest tech (lacks Wifi-6), but it's solid and easy to configure. I'm adding a wire in between the two routers and have a third on order that I'll install soon to better cover the garage and yard.
There's also automation built-in to the Google Wifi system so I can trigger things like outside lights going full bright when my wife's phone connects when she pulls in the driveway.
The sale I normally see on those is 2 of the AC2200 routers for $200.
The router plus point combo is wireless connection only, so try a few locations for the smaller unit to see what works best.

Bought mine about a year and a half ago as I had a few dead spots, very easy setup and seems to be much more reliable than repeaters/extenders I've used in the past

I probably need one additional point and my whole house will be covered without a decrease in signal.

I think it was around $300 then. It's ok. The pointer put wifi extended the internet to places I didn't have it before and plus they act like an Alexa, but the google version. I just keep getting disconnected from it on my phone which I never had a problem with before. Doesn't matter how close or far I am from it. Could be sitting literally 3 feet from the router.

I’ve heard of people paying double and triple that to let Google have visibility into every single packet of their network traffic.

Core business commodity isn’t data about you…Google’s is—-they didn’t get into the router game because they thought hardware was lucrative.

my life can be super bored, so can the router. I might get more targeted advertising, but otherwise they know everything already.

was at home streaming at the same time. It was life changing. We weren't really having issues with everyone streaming video at the same time, as soon as we had 2-3 meetings going on it overloaded our outgoing bandwidth. No issues now.
Most people complain about the isp being slow, but in most cases it's their router.
