That’s not opinion. Go look at the players he recruited. Go look at the success he had in a much more difficult ACC than today. Go look at his track record in the NCAA tournament which was only 32 teams back then and much harder to get into than today.

If we had Cliff Ellis and Dabo that would be crazy! Those two could create a roadshow and go out on tour together!

Cliff and his staff did a good job for about a ten year period. Great big man play and tough guards put us on the map.

Man, that would be nice right now.

I'd probably take Barnes over Ellis, but it was a tougher conference then.

cliff did some good things, no doubt. won our only acc champ. but he also went 'first to worst", finishing dead last in the acc the very next year. Over all in the acc he was 56-90, with an average finish of 6th in the league. in the 4 years after his acc champ, he won a TOTAL of 17 games in the league. only twice did he finish above 6th. the best description of cliff was 'he had some good teams, but he couldn't build a program." Now how you want to compare him to clemson coaches that followed him is your business. There are a lot of variables to consider. But let's not pretend cliff was a "great" coach. he is what his record says he is.... another coach who struggled to win consistently at clemson.
