Did anyone else see Barry Switzer unveiled an NIL

Apr 23, 2022, 1:12 PM

plan to buy players for Oklahoma? Another not-for-profit. Used to pay players 40-50K a year.

So that's good.

So now Texas will respond by offering these prospects higher

Didn’t coach Switzer famously say he could keep a rock eligible for two seasons? ??????

I think that we all should be mad and speaking out about how unfair that something like the NIL was implemented without any governing rules what so ever, and the results have, and will continue throwing college FB to being one sided, the bigger the school, in the bigger cities will be the solid power house programs in college FB, and the stories of the little guys competing head to head with the big guys will be gone away forever destroying the biggest amateur sport ever as in college FB!!!!

I never thought that I would see the day that one change in college FB would open the door for professional minor league FB the way that the NIL has done, bc what they have done will RIP the love for college sports out of the hearts out of fan bases around the entire country, and it won't take as long as some may think that it will. College recruit are already looking for the biggest money wherever that may be, and it will only be about 15 top programs able to compete with the biggest money programs around the country.

Bowl games will be the thing of the past of college FB. The top 68 teams picked for March Madness, that also will be a thing of the past. The Nil won't just affect college FB, it will end up affecting the top 3 sports in all of college sports. It will be just the teams that are affording to pay the top athletes in the country to come and play at their schools that has the most NIL money to pay the very best athletes. The very same will happen in college basketball, and baseball as soon as those schools in the biggest NIL environment get it worked out with how to bring in the most money as they can for buying the best players in all 3 of the top college sports, and I'm predicting 3-4 more years, tops. That is when we'll see schools everywhere dropping sports at their schools bc, they're not able to draw in big NIL money that it will take to compete at at the highest level with the schools that are bringing in tons of NIL cash for pay to play recruits!!!!

You are exactly right and it's depressing.
It has made me reconsider my IPTAY donation. What is the point?
My money goes to scholarships for athletes that get a free college degree, room and board at a Taj Mahal athletic facility and now get paid more than the average IPTAY donor?
My interest is fading rapidly

I’m with you. That’s exactly how I feel about it.

Like…is my donation going toward paying Davis Babb’s salary, or is it toward the scholarship of a kid who gets paid more than I do?

Either way, I’m not interested. And it doesn’t mean I don’t love Clemson.

The fault lays squarely at the feat of lawyers, wokeism and greed!

Mabe we will go back to actual student athletes playing sports and getting scholarships and room and board. The rest will become semi pro sports supported by the pro teams. Lol

I know you ended up your post with lol, but I think you may

Apr 23, 2022, 5:05 PM

well be right about where the sport is heading....two divisions based off of NIL payments. In one the big payers, that are buying recruits and paying them crazy amounts of money and the others that either can't or won't.

We could call the latter of two the Division 1 college football and the former Division 1 professional football.
